@Nyx

Arrille made sure to meet the others of the Grotto, this time actually going around. The Grotto, it was not so easy to navigate through without Caiaphas or someone else that had been here long enough to lead him around. And with the fear of losing direction, it was very apparent. "Is...is anyone around?!" he shouted out into the caverns.
During the weeks she'd spent in Ankyra Sound, Nyx had mostly avoided the grotto. To her it was a cold, empty and uninviting place - though it still intrigued her. Curiosity got the better of her that morning, as she found herself exploring the darkness of the caverns.

She listened to the clack of her claws on the smooth, cold stone as she tread carefully through the hollow, staying close to the slick walls so she couldn't lose her way. Somewhere, she could hear the drip, drip, drip of water from ceiling to floor. A chilling breeze made her nose twitch, and just as she considered searching where the wind was getting in, she heard a voice. Pausing in her tracks, the golden she-wolf pricked a raven-tipped ear as the words echoed around her and she smirked at the hesitation in his tone.

Always with a thirst for amusement, Nyx lifted her muzzle and released the most menacing laugh she could muster: "muahahahaha!"

She remained hidden in the darkness then, silent and unmoving, electric eyes trained on the direction she suspected the initial call had come from.
Arrille could hear no reply to the call right away, so continued to move, going deeper which may not have been the best idea. Then he heard a menacing laugh echo off the cavern walls, freezing him as he blood ran cold. He waited for a very long moment.

"H...Hello?" He remained still, and now very afraid. "Ingram, y-you better not be playing a trick on me!"
She remained in her place, crouching low as her tail curled cat-like at her pale hocks. The approaching tip-tap of the anxious male's claws against the stone came to an abrupt halt, and a long moment of silence followed.

When he spoke again, the tawny Ostrega gritted her teeth in the struggle to keep herself from laughing in her amusement. The fear that accompanied his words energised her, for her twisted sense of humour had been temporarily sated. Pricking a velvet lobe once more, she listened intently for the sound of her victim's breathing, then sprung forward to leap out from her hiding place and into the boy's line of sight.

"Boo!" Nyx called out, tail flagging above her hindquarters in triumph as she beamed mischievously toward him.

Arrille still could not see whomever had had made the laugh, and he could not see anything. "Ingram, I swear, if it's you, I'll...I'll kick your butt ag- Ah!" He jumped as someone came out before him, calling out 'boo'. Once he regained himself he leveled a glare towards them.

"What was that for?!" he called back, holding his hard stare against them. It certainly was not nice, and he didn't know the name of this wolf just yet.
The boy shrieked and leapt into the air, much to Nyx' delight. She heckled out loud once more, her laughter echoing through the grotto likely much to her young victim's embarrssment, but she did not stop to consider his hurt feelings. Nyx was a wicked creature, who enjoyed both initiating and being on the receiving end of tricks and pranks. If others could not lighten up enough to join in, well... that was their loss, not hers.

A pair of azure eyes flowered at her, and the golden wolfess beamed up at him in response. Fully aware that her amusement of the situation would very likely annoy the ivory youth further, her joyful expression remained. "For the lulz fun," Nyx chimed with a wave of her feathery tail. "Not afraid of the ghosts, are ya?"
Arrille snorted at her grumpily at the female. It was another Ingram, in a way. Someone giving him a scare, just for 'fun'. "What? No, I'm not scared of ghosts..." Ghosts had never even come to mind. "I just don't like it when someone jumps out and scares me!" The second wolf to scare him, if he didn't count how his meeting with Caiaphas had went.
The boy appeared affronted at the suggestion he might be afraid of ghosts, and Nyx' expression slackened to one of a more serious nature. Blinking up to seek his cornflower gaze, the tawny Ostrega canted a raven-tipped lobe back in sudden, feigned uncertainty. "Oh," she pondered, then continued in a hushed tone, "I hear the spirits of babes drowned by their mother dwell in this very grotto."

A chill passed over them, surely the wind she had felt earlier, but it certainly added to the effect. "She claimed "the voices" told her to do it and killed herself soon after, driven mad by the grief. Sometimes, if you listen closely, you can hear her sobbing deep in the cavern," Nyx mimicked the soft, ghostly cries of the troubled mother in her spooky tale, then paused to listen as the sound echoed all around them. "They say you should never follow them," She whispered, slinking forward slowly in the darkness, closer to the grouchy yearling until she could exhale heavily onto the tufted white fur of his neck, "or the children will get you. But I say we should. Care for a little adventure?"
....What? That was the only thought that could come across Arrille's mind. He got the chill of the wind, but just passed it off as wind. He was skeptical about all this, he never believed in ghosts and such. But he did shae a bit when she breathed on him. "Stop that...personal space." The sound of adventure was tempting, but for a different reason as his eyes lit up, and he got a grin. "Sureee." But it wasn't just so she could have fun with him. No, it was so he could prove this ghost story false. And with Arrille, if he proved something he never let it go.
The boy brightened somewhat at her suggestion of an adventure through the grotto, and Nyx shot him a wry smirk. It seemed to her that he didn't really know the caverns, what with his initial anxiety, and she herself had never explored them until now. So they could learn the routes together, and she was adamant to find another way of spooking him purely for the fun of it. His open disregard for Nyx' spooky story was enough to inspire her to try harder.

The agouti Ostrega turned from him then, beckoning her pale companion to follow with a cheery "this way," and made her way carefully across the slick stone. "I'm Nyx, by the way," She introduced as an afterthought, yellow eyes focused ahead as she contemplated which path to take.
Arrille eyed her carefully, waiting for the next trick she had waiting for him. He began to follow right behind her. Nyx. Arrille recalled that name...he also recalled Ingram saying she was nice, and uhe intended to bring that up.

"My name's Arrille" he said in return. "Ingram told me your name...said you were nice..." She had proven otherwise so far.
Her newest acquaintance offered his own name in return and although she made a mental note of it, Nyx did not acknowledge it with words. It was the mention of Ingram that caught her off guard, however, and she canted a raven-tipped lobe back toward Arrille.

"Oh. Hm," she mused. That was interesting. Not only did her dark comrade discuss her with new recruits, but he actually referred to her as "nice". Nyx, unsure If she felt flattered or irked by this new information, opted for her default dry humour. "Clearly Ingram is not of this planet," the golden wolfess laughed, shifting in her stride somewhat to peer briefly over a peppered shoulder to gauge the yearling's expression. "Are you disappointed?"

Arrille gave a light laugh along with her. He wondered briefly if Nyx was fond of Ingram, and if Ingram had in fact tricked him in saying she was nice. When asked if he was disappointed, he made a long pause. "Uh....yes?" he said, though unsure of his answer. He had not liked the way she had jumped him.
He laugehd with her - a good start to looking beyond their initial first impression, she supposed. Nyx hoped he was simply sore at having been spooked and that he might one day look beyond his embarassment to realise that her tricks were all in good fun. If he had a stick rammed up his ass permanantly then that was unfortunate, but the golden Ostrega did wish to get along with her new comrades. They had to live together, after all, and it would be unfortunate to have to avoid him.

Arrille hesitated. Turning her head to peer through the darkness ahead of her once again, the tawny wolfess smirked to herself. "You'll get used to it," she assured him, and was content to leave the subject at that. Just because he was miffed at her for startling him didn't mean that Nyx would avoid her future tricks. "So you know Ingram," she returned to a previous topic, continuing through the grotto with careful pawsteps, "how did you two meet?"
Would he? Would he get used to it? No doubt, he would end up in another rivalry with another wolf besides Ingram, the way Arrille was. "I guess I will have to get used to it..."

He shrugged. "First time I met him was when he was at the borders. Second time, he almost fell off a cliff...he continues to tease me." He gave a little laugh at that, and at how he was teasing him back.
wanna fade this soon and have another thread?  :)

Well, wasn't he a great big ball of fun? As she trailed ahead and he couldn't see her face, Nyx rolled her yellow eyes in the beginnings of mild irritation. If he wished to continue to lick his wounded pride, then their "adventure" through the grotto was going to be very dull indeed.

"Ah, well," she blinked over her shoulder again, naughtiness still present on her features in the form of a toothy grin, "you need to beat Ingram at his own game. I bet that's what he wants." That was what she wanted, anyway. To bite and be bitten back. Someone she could joke and laugh with, and she hoped that Arille was young enough to learn that life didn't have to be all doom and gloom.
Arrille looked ahead as she spoke, and he got an idea. "Beat him at his own game?" He had plenty of ideas running through his mind. "I have some ideas in mind for that" he said, with a grin of his own. "You know, Nyx...you aren't so bad after all...maybe we can team up on him" he suggested. That would be a fun idea, for them both to tease him.

I'm up for another
fading here   :)

He parroted her question, to which she did not respond. Instead, Nyx remained silent to allow him an opportunity to consider his options as she led him through the dark caverns. Moments later, he piped up again and she pricked an ink-stained ear backward to listen with a proud smirk. "Good," the praise echoed around them, and she accompanied it with an energetic swish of her peppered tail as she encouraged, "I bet he'll never see it coming."

Truthfully, she thought Arrille to be a little slow - certainly not sharp enough to conjure a prank convincing enough to fool Ingram. But with her help, he might figure somthing out. And so she offered an anecdote or to as she lead the pale yearling through the maze of their grotto, forgetting the tale she'd spun earlier in attempt to spook him.
