A few days rest and decent-eating in the fern glen had given her the motivation to make the last real push northward to hopefully find some semblance of something interesting. Jomyo had decided, and although she remained steeled for disappointment, she at least wanted to know where @Delight and @Queenie were these days--especially in the event that the wilds held nothing further for her after summer had come, been spent, and passed. But that was for later.. and in the meantime, the agouti Eizokusei would cruise away the hours should the roads allow.

With favorable weather overhead, Jomyo crossed the valleys to no consequence, and then skirted some forest where she tracked after some vague tellings of wolf traffic. This tactic did eventually lead her to find a claim where the woods seemed to abate, but she lingered with a watchful stare just beyond its reach out of an instinctive caution.

Not knowing what she was looking at exactly, or what to expect of the residents either, she loitered only long enough to compose herself, then tipped her head to howl and make her presence known to those within. Her note did not come with excessive vigor or neediness about it (none of this was of any demand to anyone and she fancied flying beneath the radar if she could), and instead, it almost wore a vague uncertainty as she hoped the Singing-Sunlight that she sought would hear.
she's come to creep a lil, tags are just who she's looking for--all welcome!
He was almost hesitant to answer the call at the borders, after the last time. Still, it was his job. Alarian could only hope as he limped slowly towards the source that it was not yet another odd acquaintance of Delight's. He was tired again today, evident in his posture, and his weight continued to dwindle with each day his appetite refused to return.
The Governor was a bit of a sorry sight, approaching slowly but at least without his usual shyness. Hello, He offered as he drew nearer, tail swishing affably. Welcome to the Bracken Sanctuary. I'm Alarian, the Governor; is there anything I can help you with? Alarian noted the woman's features as he spoke; small, but larger than him, with pretty eyes. Beautiful, he decided, much like the last stranger he had met at the borders— hopefully the similarities ended there.
She finished her note and settled down to wait with her tail curling around her lowered haunches. With that said, she simply kept a quiet watch.. and took the chance to absorb the sights and sounds. The scout had stalled in heading northward, but the views were not half bad, she noted.

It was seeing someone coming that popped her right back up to a stand, and before the small wolf came before her, she wore her most neutrally unassuming stance. She veiled it in the downward dip of her muzzle, but she was surprised to see someone smaller than her come to meet her out on their boundaries--and thinner, too. Jomyo was keeping lean to fly light for a summer of travels too, sure, but he was almost a little concerning, especially with a pronounced-enough limp like that--if it were her problem, and it wasn't, anyway: she couldn't help but brighten a bit when this was the presumed Sanctuary too. Odds were looking good this was where she intended to be.

"Hi," Jomyo returned and squared her paws, businesslike for these beginning beats. "Thanks for answering. I'm Jomyo.. a scout." Intentionally brief, though, before she trudged on. "Well, I was part of Tindómë," and he may know how vacant that was, and how she had not exactly contributed all that much to their presence upon the Vale. But all the same, it would explain why she had come all the way up here. "I came to see if this was where Delight went." Thought old habit hung on the tip of her tongue, she refrained from calling him the morwinyon as it were no longer, and peered at the petite wolf to see how he'd take this--if Delight was truly here, too.
The woman, Jomyo, was nice enough; her introduction as a scout made him think, for a moment, that she might be a pack wolf— but he smelled no pack on her. Nothing but her own scent and the wilds. Things made more sense with her next words. He masked it well, but his mood fell slightly with the revelation. Surely Delight would be here any moment, and he would have to slink off like a nothing again.
Pleasure to meet you, Jomyo, Alarian decided to keep it polite and maybe a little formal for now, though his tone and expression mostly reflected casual warmth. There was no reason to dislike her— or to be upset, for the moment. He'd save that for when his friend showed up. Delight is here— Queenie, too. They've just had their pups— a little over a week ago.
Then, he paused, glancing behind him and realizing he actually kind of wished Delight would show up. He had no idea what to do with Jomyo now. He looked back to her with a slightly apologetic smile, figuring his friend was probably with his children. Would you like me to go get him for you?

his reunion with anatha shook something loose inside him. just knowing that she was okay -- after a fashion -- and that her time spent with him hadn't totally ruined her life is.. oddly affirming. he thinks she's one of many badges of guilt he'll hoard with him for the rest of his life, but that's okay. that's his burden to bear.

he is with his children when jomyo's call goes out -- or, well, sort of. queenie's still not letting him get very close, which is fine, he respects that. he's kind of afraid of hurting them by stepping on them or breathing too hard or some other idiotic thing, given his curse and all. for a moment he doesn't register it -- alarian can get it -- and then the familiarity of the call clicks into place and the androgyne hops to his feet, making toward the borders with haste. he's nearing them when he hears alarian offer to go get him, and picks up his pace, calling out "i'm here, i'm -- oh --" breaking into a laugh when he sees her.

his tail wagging, he hops up to give her a quick embrace, his expression brighter than it's been in weeks"jomyo," delight says, a smile in his voice, "what are you doing here?" (sorry, alarian, for being ignored again.)
The Eizokusei maintained her polite posture, and dipped her snout to wordlessly say likewise. The real relief followed, although she hadn't expected it to seem like such a rush of its own, and it was good to know their pups are here; good enough to prompt a soft wage of her tail. She had wondered.. what may become of that considering Queenie's thoughts on the matter, but now wasn't the time nor place, not to the face of this fresh acquaintance--one scarcely more than a stranger to her still.

It was kind of him to offer, but she wasn't in the business of stealing attentions from cubs just being nosy. "Ah, nice, but no thanks. They're probably keeping busy then," she blinked shut her pale eyes a moment, and ultimately understood. "Tell them I came by and say congrats, okay? I don't have any important reason to see them, really, just to find out that they're here is what I came about.." Jomyo detailed with her ears fanned back and outwards.

Her sights panned briefly past Alarian then, and when she had been ready to ask more about this Sanctuary place, whatever it was and about the pack in general (all looking ahead to keep her options for a winter roost varied, just in case)--she spotted Delight, and whuffed lowly about this--weirdly glad to see him. "Oh hey," she greeted, bringing about a greater rhythm to the wag of before and accepting his welcomes in turn with some of her own. In the company of his familiar sort, some of her typical edge had eased away too. "I wanted to see where you ended up," she said alongside a very relieved nod. Clearly, she had found it. "Sorry for just dropping in at random," she frowned, but even besides the apologetic words, this was how she was without real intent to change that. "How are the pups? Alarian said, what? A week old?" she quirked a brow, and glanced silently to the governor too--trying to gauge his place here, if he wanted one or not.
aahhh so sorry for the wait
Of course Delight arrived, then— as cute as he always was, but the Governor was far too huffy right now to acknowledge it. Much. Trying to ignore the sting of being ignored again, he prepared to slink off as he had done far too often lately. It was Jomyo's words that gave him pause; immediately he liked her more for the attempt at inclusion.
Not that he really... wanted to stay. Now he kind of had to, but he didn't mind so much at that exact moment. Maybe closer to two, He amended quietly, mirroring Jomyo's questioning look in Delight's general direction; immediately he regretted it, having momentarily forgotten that he was being ignored and that he ought not highlight it any more than needed. Okay, maybe he didn't have to stay, actually—
I'll let you two catch up, He posed it as a friendly offer, but it was very much his escape. It was nice meeting you, Jomyo. At least he could honestly say he meant that. With nothing else worth adding, Alarian more or less fled.

alarian gets a casual see you, too caught up in jomyo's arrival to give him much of a proper anything. "yeah, around two," he agrees, echoing what the governor had said, and smiles. "they're so tiny still, i don't know what to make of it. i'm sure queenie wouldn't mind if you wanted to drop by the den and see them," he adds, shrugging lightly. hell, queenie would probably appreciate seeing a familiar face at this point.

but he doesn't push it, letting jomyo decide for herself. "what have you been up to?" he asks instead, curious how his friend has been -- hopeful the answer is good and not a reminder of his various failures.
When Alarian took his leave, she splayed her ears at him and nodded deeply in silent thanks. "Likewise," she answered, watching him go from then on out. As for Delight's new little oddities, Jomyo still didn't know quite what to say about that either. She did not usually stick around much for pups that tiny still. Meeting Delight and Queenie's.. she didn't know if she wanted to be ready for that yet? "Wouldn't that be strange for me to just.. come in?" she asked and glanced past him for the depths of the claim; she was no native of this place by any means, nor even remotely familiar with anything here except Delight and Queenie. "But it's good they're good, even if it has to be weird to have wolves that little to tend," she murmured, thoughtful as she peered at him at great length. "Congrats." she added finally before moving on to answer her own.

"Nothing in particular. I've been ranging.. was heading towards the valleys. I was thinking of heading south again next, but not sure to where. Or for what." But, as with all things, this was how it was. She had long since lost the cause of reuniting with a brother of hers (as intent had once been) and neither was she desperate or bored enough to go back to the homeland. The Teekon still had plenty for her to rove on. This was her guide, for now, it seemed. "Either way. What is this place? What's it like?" she wondered why here, of all things.

delight shrugs in response. "nah, it's fine," he replies but doesn't push the subject, accepting her congrats with a nod and wag of his tail. more interesting is what she's been up to (which is exactly what he expected her to be up to, though secretly he finds he's a little pleased she hasn't found another pack yet -- stupid, selfish, but still.) "i'm sure you'll keep busy," he says, smiling as she asks about the sanctuary. "bracken sanctuary -- alarian and i met a while ago -- he stayed with us for a little actually," the androgyne adds, wondering if jomyo would remember -- or if she'd been out on an adventure at the time. probably the latter. "and he took us in -- i just, i couldn't do it anymore, y'know? and it wouldn't have been fair to raise the kids in a ghost of a pack like that." delight is less trying to justify himself and more just -- it's nice to talk to someone who was there, too, who'd probably get it. he sighs and tucks into himself a little bit, his tail curled around his toes. "it's different here, but not that different... they're a sanctuary, and everyone is pretty close-knit and kind. kinda reminds me of tindómë back when we were still at the king elk's forest," delight muses, voice turning nostalgic. there'd been a moment when everything had been -- if not perfect, pretty damn near. but maybe that's just the golden glow of days unrecoverable.
He was so nonchalant about it. She, squinty eyes and all, was still caught a touch off-guard by such chill when puppies were concerned. Maybe her knowledge only stemmed from stern places. She had known packs to be downright prickly about their pups, or at least guarded. Plus she knew just enough about mothers with young to know that she didn't really want to test Queenie's patience when she was the mother in question. Jomyo could not say she entirely counted on Delight's ease on the matter to be enough for the both of them. Or maybe she simply underestimated their good graces towards her, and thought too deeply into it.

But there was more to think on; he was forward with the details, neatly packaged and her ears swung merrily to catch it all. She had the bits and the pieces of this, here, and all that had concluded Tindómë's tenure in the Vale--but it felt good to have the dots connected, and a few key parts fleshed out a tad more. "I see. It's his sanctuary, then? I wasn't around much when he was there," she said, concerning the tiny governor's stay with the Vale when before full collapse had scattered them.

In the best way she could, maybe she understood a bit. "But, yeah, fair. I liked the Vale a lot but it was too easy to drift," she admitted. As  ghostly as it had been in their fleeting claim there, it had been no place for young to grow up without solid bonds all around to help support. A place literally with Sanctuary in the name seemed a lot more fitting, and it seemed this opportunity had been one he was wise to take; more and more, she did understand.. so this trip up here was definitely not without its worth--if somehow, just seeing him, knowing he and Queenie and their fresh little family were fine, was not enough to count. "That's good, though, that the pups can grow up with that," she said, punctuating with a soft tail sway. While the King Elk forest had a place in her heart too, she knew not as large as his. If this gave him those vibes, then good.

Next when she sighed, some more tension surely went with it. "I'm not planning to stick around for long right now and I don't wanna loiter much, but it's good to see you're.. good. And here. Just tell Queenie I say hey for now? And I'd meet the kids sometime, I think--when they're older? Summer will let me wander easy for a while longer still, I hope... I'm keeping options open until then." she explained, letting it go unsaid that she was making this place one of those very options if needed.
sorry for the wait mdear!!! wrap up?

jomyo does not seem to be buying the whole sanctuary thing. well, fair enough. more importantly, she doesn't seem to be mad about how things shook out -- a little of the guilt he carries eases as she speaks, a smile warming his face. when she finishes speaking delight nods, reaching out to bump her affectionately with his snout if she'll allow it. "of course," he says, "i'm sure she'll like that -- and you can come back any time, i don't, uh, i don't think we're going anywhere for a while." not after the chaos of the past half year, anyway. delight's tired and -- he doesn't want to leave alarian, that's for sure.

"thanks for stopping by," the chancellor says softly, even as he stretches, prepared to head back into the territory. "it's, um, really good to see you're doing well. i'll be looking forward to seeing you again, jomyo." with that, unless she has anything else to add, delight excuses himself and takes his leave, a little bit happier than he'd been when he woke up.
She was processing it entirely, and taking her time with the notion of how it all had panned out for Tindómë. In a way, her few attachments made it easier, but somehow it was those very few (of what she still knew how to find) that had brought her out here in the first place--maybe she couldn't kid herself. Whatever way it was, it didn't change anything in the long run; at least he was here, with Queenie and their pups, and she could keep a bit of peace with that information. Jomyo did want to believe she would come back.. for some reason, at some point. She liked the option to be able to above all.

Delight seemed to keep to the same vibe, and she appreciated that quietly. "Yeah, same." Gently she waved her tail, and gave her parting words quickly to not impose on their sanctuary any longer. It was enough for her, so she was on her way soon after.
!!its good, i'm slower! <3
