Venus streaked through the grass. The wind pressed against her fur, the cool breeze relieving her warm temperature. Her stride in her sprint was elegant, her eyes kept forward, and her ears bobbing up and down to the rhythm of her sprint. The scenery of the trees and the sounds of nature, put Venus's mind at ease. Finally, she thought. I can actually relax for once instead of having to worry about wolf packs, she sighed of relief, as her sprint began to decline in speed. She turned her head for a better look at her surroundings as her lean but powerful legs slowed down to a walking speed. Her purple gaze swept the area, taking in on how peaceful it was here. Her head tipped up to gaze at the looming trees, as their shadows overlapped each other. The claws in her stomach seemed to uncurl, her tensed muscles began to relax. She inhaled slowly, the fresh air of the small forest was refreshing. She slowly moved her head down and began to slowly walk. Her legs ached for her to find a nice spot to lay down for a while, but she wanted to look around a bit longer. The sounds of birds chirping and trees creaking filled her ears, her paws crushing the leaves beneath her paws. To her relief she found a shady spot where soft leaves were clustered together, the perfect bedding. She lowered her legs to the ground to a resting position. Her tired paws could finally rest and heal from the aching. Lowering her head to the cool grass, her eye lids felt heavy, as her vision slowly became darker and her mind calm, she began to sleep.
Even though the alpha female had a mastery in being a Ranger, she didn't leave Easthollow's grounds that often as she did before. There were several reasons but the most prominent was her rank. As a leader, it was not convenient to leave your pack to explore. And then there was her latest litter that needed her attention. Plus, Stark caused her some worry as well with his illness. Still, with this quiet day, Valette decided that she could cross the borders. She would still be able to hear a howl if she stayed in the neighboring territories.

There was also still the mystery of the dwindling water supply going on at Easthollow. This would be a good reason to check if there was water in the forest next to them. Valette had a casual trot through the forest in search of water. Her mind was wandering with all these worries lately, due to this her mind only registered the scent of the sleeping female so much later. Valette grew more alert. The scent told her that it was no pack wolf, at least not one she knew. Valette easily tracked her scent until she was in close range of the female not putting in the least bit of effort to be quiet. She wanted her approach to be heard by the other.
Venus's mind felt light, her dream was calm and easy. Her paws felt light, her dream consisted of her chasing a nice juicy elk. Venus was streaking after it, the chase was easy, too easy. However the female didn't care, she was pretty hungry, but her sheer dedication to catch her prey sought no limits. Her sprint was fast and clean, ricocheting off of rocks to trees. The sensation warmed her nerves. Her jaw was open, her sharp, snow white teeth glowed in the sunlight, the forest around her glowed. This is it!  She thought happily in her dream. Her paws gripped the grass as she made a giant leap towards a rock. Her claws scrapped the rock as she gave herself grip, thrusting herself towards the elk with great speed. She could practically taste it already. But the aroma in her mouth was not elk, but wolf. Hold on a second... She hesitated in mid leap, as her dream changed for the worse. Her elk was suddenly stepped on by a humongous wolf paw. Unfortunately, she couldn't stop herself mid-air, her powerful leap had caused her to slam into the wolf paw muzzle first. Thankfully, this was a dream, she felt no pain, but the female was knocked backwards. Her back hit what she had thought was grass, as she tumbled backwards like a tumble leaf. She landed on her belly, her legs had sprawled on the ground. However, when she got her eyes straight, her ground had turned into a dark void. She rose her head slowly, her eyes widening as she looked at this darkness. "Oh no..." Her final words before the ground beneath felt like air, and fell into the void with her legs flailing.

Venus woke up with an embarrassing snort, and her head shot up with widened eyes. Her chest heaved, as her breathing was quick and rapid. Her ears were perked and alert. The 'aroma' of wolf that was in her dream was true, as the scent of wolf had flooded her nose. The giant wolf paw in her dream had symbolized that there was someone approaching her. She shook her coat quickly, she sprung up from her sleeping position and got a grip on the forest ground. She did not hesitate to quickly swing around to face this stranger. Venus fixed her stance to be intimidating, she wanted to show that she couldn't be messed with. Venus's purple gaze narrowed, the wolf approaching her had a hazel gaze. Venus wasn't fazed by this, "If you were any louder, you could wake up a snoring bear" Venus snorted, as her facial expression softened a little to make her comment as snarky as possible
Valette hadn't realized that the female she encountered had been sleeping. She just wanted to make her presence known and not have a startled wolf to deal with. The female frowned lightly when she was met with snark. She could, in fact, have woken up a bear since that was her goal. "I did not realize you were sleeping," she returned politely. It was clear by the way the grass was folded behind the other female that she had been laying down.

"I just didn't want to startle you," she added. Plus if the female had been hunting then she would have probably scared away the prey, which was somewhat selfish of Valette but the glade was close to her pack's territory and she didn't want to have too many wolves hunting close to Easthollow. After all, how could she have known the other was hunting? However, that didn't seem to be the case so Valette discarded it. "Are you alone out here?," Valette asked.
Venus raised an eye brow, she rolled her eyes as she looked around. Birds tweeted their musical tweets, the wind howling through the trees, and just the two of them. Venus exhaled softly, her once perk ears rested a bit, her tightened nerves loosened, the reply of this mysterious wolf was polite, Venus was taken back by this a little. No wolf I have ever met has reacted this..... nice to me before.. Venus shook her thought. She fixed her gaze, her eyes went a little softer, but she kept the impression that she was not to be messed with. "Well, i'm not alone, anymore. Your here, the birds, the bugs. How could I possibly be alone when there is so much going on around me." Venus had to try to cut down the snark a little bit by making a joke of the situation. She shook her coat, "Well have you come alone?" Venus commented as she sat and lifted her right hind leg to scratch behind her soft ear. As she scratched her ear, her mind began to wonder Hold on a second, who is she in the first place, why is she here, is she a pack wolf? is she a rouge? Pick a fight with me for glory? The endless scenarios began to flood her mind as her scratch slowly came to a stop. She rested her foot on the ground as she rose to a confident, but a little more relaxed stance. Venus didn't know who she was, or where she came from, how could she assume? Venus put that thought in the back of her mind, this was a stranger, she had to be strong and ready for anything.
Valette couldn't really appreciate the joke. To her, it felt more like back-talking while she had been more than friendly with the female. Perhaps it was just someone that didn't want to share too much info about herself. "I think you know what I mean," Valette returned to the female. She just wanted to know if there were more wolves around that belonged with this female.

"I am in a pack, Easthollow. You are quite close to our borders actually," Valette explained calmly. 'So to answer your question. I came here alone but my pack is close by, so I am not alone as in a loner. I'm a pack wolf,' she returned. Valette hoped that her openness would make the female more willing to tell a bit about herself as well.
Venus stared blankly at the female, her young mind began to seek answers, but she restrained. Pack territory? around here? well I shouldn't be all that surprised... Venus exhaled, her claws began to scrape the ground. The young female gritted her teeth, she was mustering up the courage to ask, but she put it in the back of her mind. She focused her mind on the fact that she was near pack territory, but this got her blood boiling a little bit. She probably came here to chase me out, its the only logical reason I can think of... Its only happened to me all the time. Venus tried to push her bitterness, but the feeling was still boiling inside her. "EastHollow huh... lets see here.... nope never heard of it" she responded sarcastically, she felt a little childish so she pushed it just a little bit further, "and what are you? The Alpha of this so called 'EastHollow?" The Alpha, That's a good one, she laughed to herself. She soon stopped laughing, her mind was filling with a little guilt, She has been nice to me, and somehow calm? I don't understand, it feels...new to me. She snorted to herself, she fixed her facial expression for it had showed signs of slight guilt. She kept trying to keep a tough persona as she stared at the female before here, she tried to study on how she looked. Her fur was dark, her eyes were a hazel color, and she was an average sized female. Venus felt a little small for she was very young, and this female was obviously older than she, and a little taller then her.
Valette kept her stance neutral as the female stayed rather tense perhaps that was just her own opinion of the other. Valette kept her hazel eyes steady on the other as she scraped the floor and repeated Easthollow. "I don't expect you to know it," the female returned politely once more. She rather kept a low profile with her and her family. They did very well on their own. If they needed help they had a lot of alliances but it had never come to that... yet.

Valette frowned lightly, not sure if the other was making fun of her. "Yes, I am," she returned to the dark-colored female. Valette kept her stance neutral outside of Easthollow as she didn't expect others outside of Easthollow to treat her to her status. She didn't even ask submission of her pack members. She was more a family matriarch rather than a dominant leader. Only when she had to she really used her dominance and her rank, but that was when someone really pissed her off.

Venus's jaw dropped, her eyes widened in shock. Okay, didn't see THAT one coming. Venus shook her coat, fixing her shocked look, she quickly sat down. She put her legs close together and her head up straight. She knew not to mess with an Alpha, an Alpha could call their pack and she could be slaughtered on site. From her past she could only remember the Alphas that abused their power, the constant fear was there when she was a pack mate, or more like a punching bag. Her heart heaved against her chest, as she thrusted her head downward to a bowing position. She feared what would have happened next, The next thing I know is that I am going to be surrounded by a bunch of her pack mates and that's the end, after all of this surviving in the wild on my own, I go down like this.. Venus had to respond, "I-I uhm...." She was frantic, the scared little pup inside of her way trying to claw its way out and take over her actions and emotions. Venus started to shake a little bit, she was trying to keep this emotion locked away, but she couldn't show fear, not anymore. Her shaking slowly started to cease, her anger started to take over. However the young female didn't move, her muscles tensed and she stopped clawing the ground. She was still, absolutely still. She waited, waited to see what would the Alpha do. Venus kept her head low, but her ears were perked and alert, if she does anything to try and harm me, i'm not going to sit here and take the beating, this time I will revolt and stand up for myself! Venus's thought had made her grit her teeth, could she have lowered me into a false sense of security? she looks to be the kind of wolf that would never do that though... Venus got her focus back on the situation at hand, she was prepared for the worst.
It seemed the female was quite shocked that she was an alpha. Valette didn't think it was such a big deal but perhaps her vision of it was different than the other female. She noticed that the other was at loss for words. Valette watched as she muttered and then even lowering her head. The female raised her eyebrows in surprise. Perhaps the female had to live with a bad alpha? One that mistreated their pack members?

"Are you alright?," she asked the other then. "I'm not going to hurt you or anything," Valette stated. Valette wasn't a wolf that would attack out of nowhere. In fact, she hardly could think of a time where she ever attacked someone. Sure, she was curious why this female was so close to Easthollow grounds but she wasn't going to fight her over it. "I take it you are alone then?"
Venus's ears twitched, she was barely reassured by another wolf about her safety. Her tense muscled relaxed, her blood cooling, giving her a rush of relief. The young female looked up a little to try and meet the Alpha's gaze. When her eyes locked, she didn't feel anxious anymore, she felt more reassured then she had for a long time. The wolf before her was always reacting calm to her snarky responses, and always polite, being patient with Venus. Venus could only remember being treated like that by her mother, who she hadn't seen since she was a pup, who she would never see again, along with her father. Her heart warmed a little, for her heart had only felt cold, and empty. Venus gave a long sigh, "to answer your question, yes, I am alone..." She responded with a little more kindness in her tone, "Its been that way for a long time..." She finished a little more quietly. Venus quickly darted her eyes downward again. She blinked rapidly, for she noticed her eyes were getting wet with tears and were starting to sting a little. That's embarrassing. . . Her thought had snapped her focus back to reality and stop feeling sorry for herself. She cleared her throat, "My name is Venus by the way..." she mumbled loud enough for the female to hear her. She rose her head a little to try and at least socialize a little better, but also because her neck was starting to ache.
Valette watched as the female seemed to relax more. She was rather pleased with this response as she didn't want a loner to hurt her. Especially with ones that were less socialized. It seemed that the female was showing a friendlier side of her. Valette offered her a gentle smile. "That can't have been fun," she spoke compassionately. The other seemed to become a bit more emotional. "Have you ever thought of joining a pack?," she wondered. "Or didn't you want to?"

Valette dipped her head. "Nice to meet you, Venus. I'm Valette," she returned. It sounded quite similar. Perhaps this female would want to join Easthollow. That was only if she wanted to be social and wanted to join a pack. Plus she would need to help out in some way.
Joining a pack? The question rang hollow in her ears. Venus had begun slowly lifting her head. Raising it up fully, she meet the Alpha's gaze. Her heart seemed to be beating quite fast, I have never been asked to join. . . I was usually the one asking to join... Venus's facial expression was starting to grow into a small smile. She raised herself from a sitting position and stood as tall as she could, "Nice to meet you too, Valette." But the question that the female had asked still lingered in her mind. She was going to push it to the back of her mind, but she held on to the thought a bit longer. Could it be true? Should I? Do I want to be alone anymore? Many questions were filling her mind, it was starting to become a bit overwhelming. Her young mind was trying to process this. Venus was beginning to feel nervous, this was a question that was never asked of her at all. However her attitude prevented her from leaping in circles of pure joy. Instead, she inhaled quickly, and slowly exhaled. She wanted to try to cover up her joy and prevent embarrassing herself in front of Valette. So she decided to sound a little snarky and sarcastic out of playfulness, "Gee I don't know Miss Alpha.... Let me check my schedule today..." Truthfully, she didn't have one, but she looked up as if she had a mental schedule and was checking it. She quietly began muttering to herself, "lets see.... hmmmmm." She gave a little chuckle at the end of her 'mentality checking her schedule,' "nope, not busy!" giving a playful and tiny bit of snark in her tone. "I think I have time joining a pack today, or your pack, which ever one it is" her childish nature was starting to leak out a bit, but she calmed herself before she could push it further.
Valette stayed calm as the female seemed to have another joke. The way she went through emotions was quite interesting to see. Now the female almost seemed to remind her of her children while before she looked almost bitter. "Well, we have room in Easthollow," she spoke. However, she was curious about one thing. It seemed the female hadn't been in other packs and now she seemed eager to join one... "How come you haven't joined other packs? Was something stopping you?" It could be important to know.

"I also would like to know what kind of skills you have. So you can help the pack by doing those types of things," Valette explained. Some wolves liked hunting more than patrolling the borders. So she would rather see a wolf do what he or she liked to do.
Venus's ear perked, The females question made her feel uneasy. "well..." she began, but she hesitated to finish her original sentence. "I just had some bad luck, that's all" she finally said. She felt a little touchy about the subject about her past life as a pack mate. Although the female had been kind to her since they met, she didn't fully trust her or felt comfortable opening up to her yet. Venus pawed the ground a little bit, turning her head to the side, dropping her gaze. "Yea... Just some really bad luck... but its all fine" she said slowly turning her head and focused her gaze back at the female. But the emotions inside her seemed to buzz inside her when she herd the female ask her about room in her pack and her skills. "Well if your asking about talents, then I can provide them for you," her heart began to thump excitedly against her chest. "Since I was a lone wolf for a while, I was self taught to track, hunt and I even taught myself how to skillfully fight, if I do say so myself," her childishness was starting to make her sound a bit boastful. "I mean, if I didn't know those things I wouldn't be here now would I?" she purposely tried to sound cheeky that time. Keep it together, don't mess up! she bit back her tongue a little bit.
Valette hoped that she would get a reasoning for the female being alone for so long. She wondered how it would go if she was surrounded by wolves again. Valette thought the female was going to give a reason but then she just repeated herself again. Bad luck. Okay. That sounded sketchy. If 'all was fine' then why couldn't the female explain. "Right. So how do you think you will fare with 13 other wolves around you all of a sudden?," she questioned. If the female wasn't going to tell her the reasoning then Valette had to ask if she was planning on being social enough.

The mother listened to Venus explaining what she was good at. How she went from insecure looking to almost boasting herself was a bit surprising. Valette quickly pushed that feeling away and nodded. They could always use hunters, however, it wasn't the profession what she had been looking for. Pity. "Alright, but do you like doing those things?," she questioned. It was easy to say that the female was good at them as she needed it for survival but did she enjoy doing it as well, that was most important.
Venus's pelt felt hot, her nerves were in a panic. 13 others?!  Venus felt pressured, her fur began to bristle. Her ears began to nervously twitch, and she began to claw the ground anxiously. "13...." she gulped, "I think I can handle that." she exhaled slowly, trying to calm herself she stopped clawing the ground, her fur flattening. "Look those skills I mentioned earlier... well to answer your question... No... not really... its a constant struggle... Sure I can take care of myself as a Lone Wolf.... but when I was in a pack I Had to have those skills. I had to fight to defend myself, I had to hunt or I wouldn't be able to eat because everyone was being so selfish! and being a pack Omega isn't easy! especially when all the Alpha's you meet are abusive and rule with dictatorship!" Venus held her tongue. I just said all of that out loud.... She didn't catch herself beginning to rant before it spilled. However, it was too late to go back. Venus paused, she paused and hesitated for a while. Just answer her first question and pray that she would ignore what you said... "So yea 13 wolves doesn't sound bad" she tried to respond, but she couldn't stop her voice from shaking. Blew it... of course she would notice I said all that... me and my big stupid mouth... Venus's heart began to pound, the memories started to flood back to her, no matter how much she restrained, the scared pup inside her began to show. She held herself back from whining, she desperately wanted comfort, but held herself back from crying out, wishing her mother was here to reassure her. To tell her that everything will be alright. But she knew her mother was gone, so was her father, her siblings scattered. She had no one. She was alone.
Valette watched her a bit skeptically when the female gulped and said that she could handle 13 others. She was definitely not going to leave her unsupervised with her young children if she was going to be accepted. The female then spoke about not really enjoying what she had to do to survive. She continued on about that she had to do things to eat. Her past sounded horrible. Valette slowly nodded compassionately. "Easthollow is not like that, Venus," Valette spoke. She couldn't even think when they ever had an omega in their pack. She saw the omega role as a good thing, not really punishment. Usually, an omega was really good at deflecting fights. They might not be the most dominant but that was good for a pack dynamic in her opinion.

She noticed the other female shaking. "Tell you what. You get to join Easthollow, but you can stick around the borders if the others are overwhelming. And if there is ever a moment that you feel uncomfortable you come to me," Valette spoke. How does that sound?," Valette offered calmly. She doubted that a wolf at Easthollow was going to make her feel bad or uncomfortable. "But I do want to see you make an effort in meeting others," she added. That would be her demand in return as she didn't want Venus to be so scared and hesitant around others. Perhaps her having a meeting with Greyback would be good. He was large but really friendly, it would show the female not to go by the looks of others to determine if they were dangerous or not.
Venus's ears perked. She listen to what Valette had said about hanging around the borders if she felt uncomfortable and that EastHollow was actually not so bad. Venus subsided her shaking and scolded herself I can't let her see that I am weak, I can take care of myself... I have to prove that I am not a pup anymore. Venus lifted her head in confidence, though she did appreciate the offer of going to the Alpha if she needed anything, she never had that opportunity. "That won't be necessary, I can hang around other wolves," her voice was firm and confident. Though I do appreciate it, I can't have everyone look after me, it would be too much trouble. Venus shook her coat, she suddenly remembered what her mother had told her long ago, "You are as strong and as bright as the Evening Star, My Venus... My Vespera. The nick name her mother gave her had the name meaning as her real name, but it was just as strong. She made her recently shaking legs move forward, walking past Valette. The wind blowing against her fur made her relaxed and cool, the sounds of the woods put her mind at ease again. The female exhaled, she turned her head, her purple gaze focusing on Valette, "Well what are we waiting for?" Venus gave a slight proud chuckle, her facial expression looked daring and confident.
Valette was lightly surprised to hear from the female that such things weren't necessary. "As you say so," she returned. Valette might have taken the female's nerves all wrong, maybe she would surprise her. The female moved forward towards the territory. Now almost seeming impatient. Valette watched with a slight frown as she commented what they were waiting for. Now the female was all confident? While she had been so timid just before? Valette couldn't really get a hold of this female's behavior. She wondered if she was faking it, she had to at least fake one of those emotions right? No one could go so quickly through emotions, right?

Now Valette was worried that the female might be a danger to the pack, or well, mostly to her young. She was not completely trusting of the female yet. Valette stepped forward and chose to ignore her words. "Follow me," she spoke as she took the lead when walking to Easthollow borders. Valette stepped over it once they reached the scent markers. She howled to the pack that they had a new member.

You want to stop here? Or continue? :3 She is now officially accepted in the pack, so you can have threads with other's as well!
