Peace was the eldest of his litter, but in no way the largest or strongest, born into a tightly knit, no-nonsense pack that produced mighty warriors and tacticians.

One of the first big fights for dominance between siblings ended up with Peace losing to his much larger sister. Combining this with the pack's emphasis on strength and victory, Peace ran away, feeling he had shamed himself. He went to seek a new place where he could try again to prove himself. Of course, being a pup, he hadn't thought things all the way through -- it was mere luck that dropped him on the borders of Ookaan after several days of travel, exhausted. Not his smartest of moves, but now unchangeable. However, the pack pretty much disappeared not too long after he joined, leaving him on his own again.
