Nightjar was born and raised in Redhawk Caldera, but left abruptly prior to the birth of his siblings as an angsty teen who felt like an unwanted third wheel. He spent a lot of time wandering the wilds beyond his home, getting on well enough alone and refusing to join any ragtag bands of wolves out of loyalty to his family, but recently has chosen to return to them at the Caldera. All in all, he has had an excellent life. On September 16, 2017, Nightjar left Redhawk Caldera upon accepting that his vision was not improving, fulfilling his own belief that wolves who can't contribute and are of no use to the pack should go off quietly to die. Not too long after, he was killed by a starving bear in Wild Berry Meadow that he couldn't fight off without his eyesight, and his remains were found by his sister, Raven.
