Like all young weasels, Twitch dispersed from his mother and siblings before his first winter to live a solitary life. With a metabolism that requires he eat a third of his body weight each day, he spends most of his time, day or night, hunting and foraging, with a varied diet that includes rabbits, rodents, birds, eggs, reptiles, amphibians, fish, worms, insects, and whatever else he can get his little paws on. As is customary for weasels, Twitch dispatches his prey using a series of quick bites to their throat or spinal column, and may perform an erratic dance of sorts to transfix his prey so he can get close enough to attack. Occasional surplus kills may be cached, but he does not often eat them. As Twitch does not dig his own den, he will crawl under stumps, logs, or rock piles to rest, and sometimes makes use of the burrows of other animals such as chipmunks.
