Why does a wolf howl to the moon ? Any young pup has heard that story in its life, and so has Akela. The story goes that the wolf was so in love with the moon that it wanted to catch it. As a young pup, you have your whole life to chase the moon, fulfill your dreams, you are allowed to dream. There is not much to say about Akela's young years, he was of a litter of 4 pups. One of them, Mai, did not make it past the first month. Akela does not remember her. As a youngster , he was an impossible beast, always getting into troubles because of his curiosity, always so eager to learn and discover. That feature, he did not lose even now. As he reached the age of 9 months, his father sended him further north, to one of his uncles, to be honest, he did not want to leave his pack and family, but as it seemed, his father wanted to avoid any troubles due to dominance with Sani who showed the most potential to lead the pack in the future.

In the Grande Cache Pack, Akela learned more of the ancient native american culture, the spirtis protecting them, helping them. It spoke to him. He also learned French and around that time met Catori, his mate. He did not want much in life, but Catori was just the cherry on the cake, she was weird and playful, a bundle of sunshine and annoyance that pushed him to be a better wolf. She eventually became his mate and fell pregnant short after.

As they say, happy and sad days work like a pendulum, in life you go from one to the other while going through quiet periods. Akela was hit by that way of seeing life so hard he almost did not survive it. Catori made a bad encounter leaving her in a very poor condition. Her wounds too deep, Akela found her almost dead near a river bed and remained with her until the end. You did die alone, but no one should ever endure dying alone. He howled his sorrow for hours , and hours. The guilt that washed over him like a burning sensation was unbareable. He should have done more, she was pregnant, she should not have been outside of the pack.

The grief pushed him out of his pack. Being reckless, and unable to fit in anymore, he simply just let himself go. In a spiral of darkness, he just survived because he had to. On many occasions he thought to see Catori, her ghost maybe, or maybe it was her spirit who was telling him to move on. He did not listen. Not being focused, he stepped on a jaw trap, probably meant for a fox. Remaining there for hours, he already thought his fate sealed. However, when he woke up, he was somewhere else. In a sort of sanctuary. First time he saw humans too. From what the other wolves told him, those humans were helping him, mending his hurt leg. It was some sort of healing area for their kind. That's where he heard for the first time of the Black brotherhood and its sorceress. Droven by that desperate hope of getting his mate back, he started to look for her, once the human freed him. He traveled for a long time, looking for those wolves. It is on someone else he stumbled instead. No other than Burke the bobtail wolf. (Yes he likes to make fun of that bobtail) They became companions for a while, for 4 months until Akela parted ways with Burke.

Akela has remained a lone wolf ever since Catori died 2 years ago, wandering around, from territory to territory, remaining a free spirit and a tortured soul, until now, that he has reached the borders of an old friend. He is now so close to his goal...only the future will say if he will reach for that opportunity.

Akela decided to stay in the Blackfeather wood pack and took a vow to remain by Burke's side. He has ever since been at his service. Suffering wounds from a cougar attack, that has not kept him from going on information hunting. At the last blood moon, he was rewarded for his efforts and was named Beta of the Pack.
