Profile of Veritas: Details
Appearance
Almost all black, the only thing marring her appearance a tinge of white at the end of Veritas' muzzle, fading into the inky blackness of her fur. The female is average for her size and her species. Truly, nothing too special. Her golden-yellow eyes are perhaps the most striking thing about her, seemingly peering into the soul.
Personality
  • Intelligent: She is eager to learn and expand her knowledge. A student and teacher at heart, Veritas is willing to switch roles to learn or help others grow.

  • Wit: Veritas is snarky most of the time, responding with words and her brain. She has a tendency to make enemies with her mouth, or friends, for that matter. It doesn't matter, though. She doesn't care if it hurts or harms if that's her goal in the first place. If you get irritated... Well, she doesn't care either. You're welcome to leave if you want. She prefers using her words to fight but will physically battle if necessary.

  • Manipulative: If she wants something, she's damn well going to find a way to get it - even if it means playing along or stringing people up. She'll be nice and kind, helping you, asking you for little favours in return. You don't suspect anything of the good little child and then, you begin to fall slowly into her trap. The favours grow bigger and bigger, but you don't notice. You're her friend! What have you to worry about? And then, when she feels enough is enough, she'll toss you away like a used rag. If you're prime material for manipulation, she probably has no need for you anyway. You're either entirely dislikable or another pawn in the great game of chess.

  • Mischievous: Strung up, used, discarded. So you don't think Veritas has any good qualities? The woman is mischievous enough to prank you all day if you waste her time. If you've not been manipulated or walked away already, she probably dislikes you less. But be wary of this Loki's tricks. They usually cause more harm than good unless she likes you or you're part of her pack.

  • Loyal: Now this may come as a surprise, but wolves are pack members. Veritas will be unerringly loyal to those she explicitly likes or those she takes care of. To betray her trust is to shatter it - and when glass is broken, it's never the same again. Just don't do it, unless you'd like one spitting mad female coming after you for vengeance. Or, if she's feeling nice, she'll have nothing to do with you and anything regarding you will not be tolerated. At all.

MALICE - Worth her words, though she's not my favourite out there.
WILDFIRE - Young, but shows potential. She's good with speaking, I daresay her pack is lucky to have her. But me? I don't care much for her general wellbeing. We're not friends.
RENN - Shows potential, but I don't think we're going to get along.

Likes mountainous areas.
VERITAS HAS A HEALTHIER IMMUNE SYSTEM THAN MOST DUE TO CONSUMPTION OF IMMUNE-BOOSTING HERBS. SHE IS MORE RESISTANT TO MOST POISONS AND COMPLETELY IMMUNE TO SOME, DUE TO HAVING EATEN THEM IN THE PAST AND DEVELOPED IMMUNITY TO THEM.

MY OWN USE:
HERBAL KNOWLEDGE
  • IMMUNE SYSTEM BOOSTERS
    • ALOE VERA - The pulp is dug out and eaten.
    • ELDER BERRY - The berry is eaten
  • ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
    • AGHADA - A tall, thin weed found in warm landscapes with multiple corns housing purple hairs. Leaves are mashed to release the juices, which are then ingested to treat mild fever and green cough. When the leaves, roots and seeds are steeped in water and left to heat in the sun, together they are used to cure stomach aches.
    • BELLADONNA - A plant which has black coloured berries and bright, thin purple petaled flowers in the spring. When leaves, flowers and berries are mashed together and applied to the area around an open wound, it lessens irritability and pain. Can only cause a reaction where it is applied, but it has a long lasting effect. Do not mix up with deadly nightshade!
    • CAJEPUT - A large desert tree that houses long, thin draping branches with short leaves, and is tipped with white whisky flowers at each branches end. Extract the oil from the trees trunk to rub on injured skin to a powerful painkilling and antiseptic effect.
    • CANCER ROOT - Defined by its unusual pinecone shaped, bronzed hued projections, this plant is found growing in decomposing leaves in large forests at the base of trees, and are relatively easy to find. The use of the entire plant may be used for external use only, and is highly effective with healing wounds, bruises, cuts and skin irritation. For best result, mash into paste and apply directly to wound for longer periods of time.
  • POISONS
    • ANTHURIUM - Dark green, heart-shaped and leathery leaves with a scarlet, white or pink spike. The leaves and stems are poisonous and eating Anthuriums could give you a painful burning sensation in the mouth that then swells and blisters, making it extremely hard to eat. There will also be difficulty swallowing and while it might fade with time, starvation can eventually kill a wolf.
    • APPLE SEEDS - Consume in large amounts, highly lethal when done.
    • DEADLY NIGHTSHADE - A small shrub with faintly scented, bell-shaped flowers that are purple tinged with green in colour. Berries are shiny and black when ripe. They grow in moist, shady places, often where soil is rich in limestone. These are FATAL.
    • DOLL'S EYE - An unusual plant found in colder climates. It houses pale white berries on a red stem. One black dot on each berry. If eaten, it causes a gradual weakening of the heart's muscles, which will eventually result in a heart failure.. If thrown up quickly, effects can be evaded.
    • FOXGLOVE - Eat the seeds from bell-shaped flowers and a wolf will experience heart failure and paralysis. Found almost everywhere.
    • RHODODENDRON - Found in naturally acidic soil areas with plenty of water, bell-shaped flowers with toxic leaves and flower nectar. Eating either from these evergreen shrubs makes one's mouth burn, increased salivation, vomiting, diarrhea and a tingling sensation in the skin. Headaches, weak muscles and dim vision could follow. One's heart rate could slow down or beat strangely, and even drop into a coma and undergo fatal convulsions.
    • WATER HEMLOCK - Found in swampy areas, these, when eaten, cause violent and painful convulsions. Death usually follows.
    • YEW (BERRIES) - Red berries, dark-leaved. Found on yew bushes. Found in forested areas and is FATAL. These can cause seizures, difficulty breathing, tremors, vomiting and death from heart failure.
  • ANESTHETICS
    • DAFFODILS - A yellow bloom, its uses are more potent when the entire plant is dug up. The bulb when ground, releases oils which can be used as a powerful numbing agent. To apply, smear the oil in the area designated for numbing and rub in firmly. In a matter of seconds a tingling sensation will claim the area, and within a minute, complete desensitization of the area will be complete, lasting for a varying duration of time depending on the immune system of the wolf.
  • ANTISEPTICS
    • ALFAFA - Similar in appearance to clovers. The stem, leaves and sprouts from young seedlings are used in the treatment of infections resulting from deep puncture wounds. It’s recommended to apply as an ointment directly after the wound is inflicted to fight off possible infections.
    • BURDOCK ROOT - A tall-stemmed thistle with a sharp smell and dark leaves. It grows best in dry areas and the root is chewed into a pulp before applying to bites and wounds.
  • THEAREUPETIC AGENTS (OILS)
    • LAVENDER - Apply by rubbing onto areas near the nose. A little is enough. Purple flowers.
    • VETIVER - A bunchgrass. Apply the oil the same way as you would Lavender
    • BERGAMOT - Of the bergamot tree, with lumpy fruit that looks like orange. Usually green.
  • OTHERS
    • CHAMOMILE - They look like daisies with a yellow inside and white petals. Rinse the mouth with chamomile to remove sores. Chamomile can ease upset stomach, heartburn, nausea and vomiting.
    • ALDER BARK - The bark of the Alder Tree, it can be stripped off and eaten to ease toothache. The tree grows in wet and boggy terrain like swamps and bogs.
    • BLACKBERRY LEAVES - Selected from the prickly blackberry bush, the leaves are chewed into a pulp and applied to bee stings to ease swelling.
