Denali is a mutt. He is the product of a moonlight fling between a Northern Rockies gray wolf and a pedigreed female of Arctic wolf, Malamute, and Husky ancestry. That was not supposed to happen.

Denali's old owner, an aged man who retired with plenty of money to blow, dabbled heavily in dog breeding. The human wanted to create "the perfect winter breed," a beautiful mix of wolf and sled dogs. Denali's mother was set to breed to a purebred Samoyed before she escaped and became pregnant with the wild wolf's spawn. Denali has yet to meet his father.

When Denali was nine months old, his owner, ailing from a rapidly deteriorating case of Alzheimer's, decided to pack up and head East to the coast to live with his family. The man took his pedigreed dogs with him, but left Denali and his two sisters behind. They were nothing but trash to the man who loved bluebloods.

Denali and the girls set out the opposite way--west, toward the shimmering blue coast. Despite his best efforts to protect them, one sister was killed instantly while trying to navigate the perilous Rockies, while the other died slowly of an infection contracted after a fight with a rabid animal. Denali entered the Teekon Wilds alone, angry, and even a little bit afraid. A few months later, he left.

And now, he has returned to find the one woman he has never been able to forget.
