Finding herself bored with her life and tired of feeling unwanted and overlooked by older siblings, Yami ran away from her childhood home to make a life for herself. It was very much a misguided adventure that started almost immediately with disaster. While attempting to cross a river she should NOT have been attempting to cross, Yami found herself swept away by a powerful current and nearly drowned. Fortunately, she was found on the shore by a pair of wandering vagabonds that nursed her back to health and brought her along with them in their travels.

Yami bonded deeply with the pair, who were an odd couple - one old and grumpy and about as interesting as a rock and the other middle-aged, handsome and incredibly charming. The young girl quickly found herself falling in love with the rake, but upon confessing this to him, got slammed in the face with her very first heartbreak. Upon discovering that dashing, six year old men didn't typically harbor romantic feelings for girls under the age of one, Yami ran away once again - embarrassed and devastated and resolved to never again let anyone close to her.

Unfortunately for her, that resolved failed when she befriended a woman named Kiwi. The pair traveled together for some time while Yami tried to help her friend realize her dream of resurrecting an empire, but that road lead to an eventual falling out. Yami has since floated from place to place, pack to pack, once again searching for her place in the world.
