Macawi once lived with her mother and siblings in a coyote pack that was constantly moving. From her mother, she learned to avoid almost all other predatory animals, as most of them eat coyotes, or at least kill them. Then her mother died of disease, and she and her siblings split ways to try and survive on their own. Despite the constant fear of wolves, Macawi has always revered them, as her grandfather was a wolf. That quarter wolf blood has always made her restless, and, despite the craziness of the thought, she has always dreamed of joining them.
