A dark she wolf. Instead of the muscle-bound ancestry she came from, she was lanky and springy, perfect for running and agility rather than brute force and strength. She is more of an average wolf height rather than the common largeness of her subspecies, and have a torrent of indigo eyes.

Appearance
Nightshade is a pure black she-wolf. Her figure is long, thin, and elegantly curved. With her mouth and eyes closed, she'd look nothing more than a black mass, completely still and ever so unnerving. Even her paw pads and nose seem to morph into her midnight pelt, and the light-stepping, quiet wolf may as well not be there at all. The only splash of color to Nightshade is her eyes, her deep, indigo eyes with can hide all emotion, or be a raging whirlpool of thought and feeling, all the while hinting the sharp spark of intellect and intelligence. Her irises and pupils are massive, always seeming to look dilated, and her whites rarely, if ever, shown.
Standing of average height for a wolf, she's small for a Mackenzie Valley, but still lean-muscled and lanky, making her fast and furious. Personality
Though she is considerably more withdrawn after the murder of her parents, she still loves and cares deeply for her friends, seeing them as the last remnants of a family she cannot afford to lose. Her personality as a wolf is very much influenced and molded by survival. The kindness of a lone wolf continue to stay with her, and her mind automatically recalls him to spur her on when she is close to death. Her determination to protect family as much as possible may also have contributed greatly to her phenomenal skills as a fighter, and a healer. Though she is among the best of the best, she remains humble and refrains from putting on airs or displaying arrogance.
Nightshade has a strong sense of right and wrong, but she is also very protective of her friends and does all she can to advise them to follow what she deems to be the right track. Despite that, she knows well that she cannot always sway them in their decisions and makes a point to follow her loved ones to almost everywhere they go and stick by whatever final decisions they'll make, just so that she can be around to help them out when they're in trouble. The sole reason she ever joins a pack is to love and care for the next generation, and even the ones that came before her, despite the fact that she truly wished to live out the rest of her days in relative peace alone. She also takes opinions seriously, so much that her humor may sometimes seem a little... subtle.
Yet for all her blind loyalty, Nightshade is quite stoic and level-headed. Her will is remarkably strong, and she is rarely seen to lose her cool or be at a loss of what to do, no matter how bleak a situation seems to be. Even when she believed hope to be lost, outwardly she managed to remain so calm that only the loner could tell that she was battling with the pain of losing her parents. However, she is not completely immune to the effects of her emotions. Her strong feelings for friendship and love, particularly when friends are in harm's way, does at times cloud her judgement - sometimes at the expense of other wolves well-being. A notable example is the occasion she briefly gave into her grief over her family's demise and lost the will to live - forgetting her responsibility for the single life she led, and most likely will ever lead.

Biography
A few years before she ventured, Nightshade appeared to be cheerful, outgoing, yet unusually perceptive pup. She became aware of the harshness of nature at an early stage, witnessing the manner in which predators would hunt and kill weaker prey. However, her innocence allowed her to push these thoughts to the back of her mind, and she continued to live happily with her parents. This illusory peace was shattered when a band of wolves brutally murdered her parents before her very eyes in a forced recruitment attempt by a savage pack who targeted Nightshade's mother as she had caught the fancy of their barbarian alpha, as well as when she witnessed a strange loner kill two of the culprits in an attempt to rescue her from the escort to the pack (as she was the only one who was kept alive, for nefarious purposes). As the last of the kidnappers attempted to kill the white savior, she could no longer ignore the cruelty that defined the world she lived in. As a result, she lost all inhibition and hesitation, and killed the assailant by driving her fangs to it's throat.
The white savior left, his journey to remain unknown to her. The child struck out on her own, venturing south and eventually reaching the lush and protected wildlife reserve of Teekon Wilds, with an old soul and her life well used, as she had learned many of the wonders of the outside world, and also the talent of healing and medical ability in the process.
