Such a bounty we haven't had - Kieran - May 31, 2016

Kieran moved through the pack lands anxious and preoccupied. His mate was with their children, all of whom would soon need to eat meat, and they had none to spare, and he wouldn't see the death of his own babies. Not to mention that Eshe and Scimitar's brood would be here soon and they would also need to feed his new nieces and nephews. With that in mind Kieran went in search of the newly rewarded Beta male, hoping for a hunt.

Though Kieran had been surprised that @Goldhawk had been chosen, he hadn't questioned it. Scimitar had his reasons for he was a good leader, of a sound mind. Kieran wouldn't lie, it smarted a bit that he had been overlooked, but it also gave him a sense of relief he hadn't expected. He loved his beautiful wife and would kill for her, maim for her, whatever she wanted, but he didn't wish to lead beside her. That was a responsibility he did not wish to uphold at least not right now. No now he wanted to have a little relaxation and joy in his older age.

Shaking his head, he sniffed at the ground looking for anything and then howled for the other male. Hoping to leave some of the lands behind and find something for the lassy's to eat.

Although the golden wolf wore his new rank with pride, it would take a while to settle — he had always subconsciously seen Kieran as Neverwinter's Beta Male, and had treated him as such. To stand with the Irish man's own mate as Beta was curious, but Scimitar had his reasons for this, and to question them was folly. So Goldhawk was content, and felt well at ease as he went to his friend's summons.

He smiled lightly at the sight of the kingly male. Although times were rough, Goldhawk felt that children were an intrinsic blessing, and that was why the very first words out of his mouth were: their names, old bean — what are their names?

Kieran had no doubt that Scimitar knew what he was doing. And honestly Kieran wouldn't be surprised if Kaskara stepped down to make room for the males own mate if he should take one. Not to mention she was going to be busy with four little ones to take care of, teach and feed. He smiled four little ones, he couldn't help the small jump in his chest as he thought of them, and the overwhelming joy that wanted to bubble up from deep in his gullet.

Kieran chuckled at his friends first words and dipped his head. Dare are four av dem. Two boys and two birds. Szabala Maire, Rian Damascus, Eimear Kalis and Dublin Keris. They are 'ealthy an' well.

It was so like his friend to have such a charming synonym for "girl". Birds! Very sweet. And Goldhawk listened to the names with a wagging golden tail, and gave a huff of approval. Marvellous, he said, and then decided something: I'm going to write a song about them. What shall we do while I think it up, wot? Are you after a hunt, sah? There had been something in Kieran's tone when he'd howled that suggested a physical endeavour ahead.

Kieran rumbled happily deep in his chest and nodded his head. At the next question he frowned, becoming serious again. He thought on Kaskara and the babes and Eshe and he felt his heart skip a beat, if something were to happen to any of them for lack of food, well it didn't warrant such a thought.

Aye oi wus 'opin' ter git sum extra meat for both Kaskara an' Eshe, especially dohs two an' de pups. They 'ill be eatin' regurgitated meat soon an' oi would loike ter 'av sum on paw. Oi don't nu 'oy far we'll 'av ter go or if we'll 'av any luk, but so'tiz worth a try.

The gold wolf nodded, feeling particularly energetic. Kieran's plan was stellar, and Goldhawk was motivated by talk of the pups. I spotted some bunny tracks northwest — let's have a gander, he gestured with his head and started to walk. And in the meantime, I'll get cracking on lyrics. I'll start with... Szabala Maire, he decided with a nod to himself. That's a nice bouncy name, holds a lot of music already wot wot.

sorry love i'm in the middle of moving and still have loads to pack and unpack, so i'm a bit sporadic, but i haven't forgotten about ya'll

Kieran licked his chops at the thought of a bunny. He wondered briefly if they would be able to gather enough for them as well, probably not, but he could wish right. He woudl get it for his babies and his wife and his sister in law though at the very least. Pure well mucker. yer lead de way.

Kieran chuckled at the next words and dipped his head. Oi 'ope so. they are gonna al' be gran' lookin', but de birds oi tink especially juicy. music 'ill becum dem.

Oh no worries at all! You sound a busy bunny~

Goldhawk flashed his friend a grin, but — as a treat — Kieran got the last word for now. After all, the moment they stepped out on their walk they had their muzzles down for a tracking session, and even Goldhawk the chatterbox knew that further conversation was unlikely to attract any prey.

There once arrived a bonnie pup,
Called Szabala Maire...

The bard began composing a song in his head as they ventured northwest.

And rabbits trembled at her name —
A great huntswolf was she!

At that, Goldhawk caught scent of that cherished rabbit... and he glanced at Kieran to see if he had too.

Kieran chuckled to himself, as his friend didn't have hte last say par usual. Kieran enjoyed the banter between teh brothers, and Goldhawk was like his brother even if he weren't blood. He reminded Kieran a lot of Kane actually, his real brother. He was hardy and funny and so charming. Goldhawk much like Kane had also ascended to Beta and Kieran himself had not, but he had always said that leadership was not for him, no he was a warrior nothing more.

AS the first scent filtered across his nostrils, Kieran froze in mid step making sure he wasn't mistaken. At the next sniff he knew what it was to be true, it was a rabbit. HOnestly, he probably could have cried in happiness. Now to just catch it. He lowered his body closer to the ground and walked on silent tread. he hoped with everything he had in him that there was a hole barrow, and not just one rabbit.

RE: Such a bounty we haven't had - Goldhawk - July 17, 2016

The muscled pair prowled low, and as he saw Kieran skirt round to the right, Goldhawk moved to the left. The idea was that if there was a rabbit here, one of them could go in for the chase and the other could cut it off and ambush.

As they moved silently towards the scent, Goldhawk continued the song in his head.

And then there was a bright-eyed boy,
Rian was his name,
And his great skill was bringing joy;
The whole world played his game.

It was for these pups they hunted, and in that moment Goldhawk caught sight of a rabbit — a small thing, twitching and tremulous by the roots of a tree...

RE: Such a bounty we haven't had - Kieran - July 17, 2016

Kieran waited and then when he too saw the small rabbit he twitched an ear in the other's direction. Goldhawk was closer to it, so it made more sense to Kieran that his friend would jump towards it and he himself would snatch it up. He only wished there were more than just the one. That would make it so much better for his family and even Goldhawk would be able to share in teh spoils that way. However, they would take what they could get.

Kieran continued to skirt around motioning for Goldhawk to go ahead and bring the chase to Kieran himself.

RE: Such a bounty we haven't had - Goldhawk - July 17, 2016

There she blows... he whispered under his breath as the rabbit came into full view. Normally hunting a bunny was not a two-man job, but they were in the grips of famine: this creature was precious.

To keep himself steady and patient, more lyrics sprang to his mind...

Third arrives a preacher,
Named Eimear the bold,
A smart and prudent teacher,
Whose soul is wise and old...

Goldhawk made his move swiftly, dashing straight towards the rabbit with a low growl. As expected, it fled from him and downwind towards the waiting warrior.

Kieran heard the commotion and then the grolw and with maw waiting he jumped forward and snapped the creature up in his jaws, quickly dispatching it. He lay it at his feet and waited for GoldHawk to come into view. They had taken some time to get this single rabbit, but it was indeed a meal fit for four little royals and two queens. At least he hoped.

He panted slightly and then spoke as Goldhawk came closer. Tink thar's anymore in dare mucker.
