Even if the stars and moon collide - Kalita - September 18, 2016

The howl left her maw, floating among the stars and quivering on the air. The held the ululating notes as long as she could, then let the to fall prey to the night. A call, a summoning to her packmates, as her eyes fastened on the doe by the water's edge. Young, alone, separated from the small herb by a few dozen meters. It glanced up, eyes huge as it scanned the treeline, tail flicking nervously and held close to it, ears rotating above it's skill. But if there was one think the young woman prized her skill in, it was hunting, and the deer went back to drinking soon enough. She watched from the dim trees, her hunting call long faded, the evening air cool and crisp. The stars had only just come out, and the deer herd had not yet settled down for the night, instead staying close to the water.

She watched it, waiting for a packmate to appear, and hopefully not be an idiot and scare the prey away. It was a hunting call, after all. Eden's scent had slipped from the territory, but two new ones had appeared, and she hoped to perhaps meet one of them. Sebastien would be great, and perhaps that shy girl, Aviana. She just hoped for a partner in the hunt, for now.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Brandy - September 21, 2016

Brandy wasn't so much of a night owl as her mother, but she had her moments-particularly when calls rent through the night as she was going to meet @Aduin in the cove. She was torn momentarily, facing the communal den but face turned over her shoulder back into the fen. It was too much to resist-the yearling barked out to her mate that she would be back-and her fiery legs pulled her at a trot towards one of the only Broken Antler Fen members she didn't know.

She came up on the other side of the deer, but the experienced Hunter knew better than to rush into anything-especially when it was a call for food. She crouched, her copper fur blending easily with the fen in the dark of night, and her lemon eyes peered curiously over at Kalita, nodding in support and waiting to pounce until the woman knew she was there and ready. She planned on leading, but if the other made a move first, well, she would be the one to follow.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Kalita - September 21, 2016

Erp. Another did arrive, but not beside her. She meets the lemon gaze of the other, the deer between them, and thinks quickly. The most obvious plan is to drive the deer toward her, the other, and follow on it's heels. Meeting the girl's gaze, she motions with her tail and a quick dip of her head; be ready. The deer is nervous, she can tell by the way it pauses it's foraging more often, and it's wisp of a tail flicks quickly. She will not wait, for the deer could bolt should she make a wrong move.

And thus she slips from the trees, using the shadows and darkness as cover, the deer obviously agitated at it's poor vision in this dim lighting. And when she is but a short distance away, her form having slunk close, quickly, does she spring. The deer is fluid, leaping away right in the direction of the other, Kalita hot on it's heels and desperately hoping the other is experienced enough to know how to stop it.

Kalita makes the first move, and Brandy takes only a few steps forward to hide in the shadow of a stone for the time being. Her gaze followed her packmate for a little while, but when both creatures were in her periphery, she knew it was time to move. Normally, she would have wanted another wolf at least, but it could be done. When the deer took off running, so did the two yearlings. Brandy charged forward and, doing her best to avoid hooves, made a jump for the does shoulder. If it didn't knock her over, it would be stuck with the weight of a wolf snapping at her throat. The huntress would only be able to hold on so long without a grip, however, so Kalita would have to join her in dragging the prey to the earth.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Kalita - September 21, 2016

The other springs, and the deer slows, allowing Kalita precious seconds in which to catch up to it. The other has a grip on the shoulder, as the deer runs, the unexpected weight causes it to stumble. She is beside it then, paws hitting the earth in quick succession, before she brings. Her left forepaw straddles it's back in the seconds before she attains a grip on the back of it's throat, prompting the quick release of blood. Her eyes gleam with excitement, the prospect of a fresh meal, and the deer runs two more paces before falling to the earth, overcome. Kalita straddles the doe, seizing the back of it's neck in a killer grip.

There is no way the doe will run away with a wolf rides it, and thus she held the rapidly weakening creature down to the earth, allowing the other the killing bite to end it's life. The thing is terrified, and she knows this is necessary, but will not stand for the unwarranted suffering of any creature.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Brandy - September 21, 2016

The doe stumbles, and in the fault of its timing, Kalita is on its back and snapping at its spine. Together, they bring it down, and Brandy secures her fangs just below the jaw of the deer-between the two of them doing mass amounts of damage, its only a matter of time. Heart racing from the burst of activity and excitement, the yearling has no problem simply laying down and waiting for the twitches of their prey to stop.

A hind hoof strikes out and catches her fiery flank, but it does little more than draw a line of blood and rips a snarl from Brandy's chest-but the pain of the bruise she can expect tomorrow only makes her clench tighter.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Kalita - September 21, 2016

The deer is still twitching; in her mind this is taking entirely too long. The other woman has a grip, yet the doe still struggled. releasing her hold she sought a better one in which to kill the weakened, frightened creature, finding the vein already ti=orn and snapping through much of the tattered neck with a final close of her jaws. The completed, the deer dead, she turns to the other, a smile on her maw, panting with exhilaration. "Not bad." she says in good humour, eyes bright with the joy of the hunt.

RE: Even if the stars and moon collide - Brandy - September 24, 2016

Kalita joins her in severing the throat, Brandy still gripping as hard as she can at its jugular. It goes limp, and the copper yearling pants harshly in both excitement and from the run; she doesn't move from where she is crouched, but turns with a grin to the other girl. This is someone she hasn't met, but they were clearly a wolf of a fen - and someone her age, the fire legged girl noticed - and Brandy breathes out a reply.

"Not bad at all... I'm Brandy!"
