all by myself - Eljay - July 19, 2017

After his unsuccessful attempts at the Tangle, Eljay decided to return to Ankyra Sound so that he could try and find some prey there. Eljay'd never been the one to scout out the prey before, so it was really hard for him to find something. He just wasn't used to this part of the game, but it was the only part he could do right now because he needed other wolves for the other parts of the game.

He stared longingly in the direction of Drageda and sighed softly, letting his gaze fall to the ground and then he hunched his shoulders and turned his gaze outwards again. He hadn't put much thought into what other things he could do except for organise a pack hunt for them (but how would he even coordinate wolves he didn't know at all?) as Eljay had never been the sharpest crayon in the box, so he wasn't really a crate full of ideas.

Anyway, presently he trailed through the Sound, not far off the beach and closer to Drageda than anywhere else, nose close to the ground while he tried to catch a scent of a herd of something.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 20, 2017

uH oh Bobby's wandering!

Robin was restless. Drageda was fun and all, he loved his family. They challenged him to be better and to be awesome, and supported him and all. But what if he didn't want to be challenged? What if he just wanted to do his own thing? So today, after many days of inner debating, Bobby decided to be rebellious. He marched right out of the borders and headed down towards the beach. It wasn't very safe for a four month old puppy of his size, but he didn't care. He was confident and he was going for it.

Luckily he hadn't gone too far before he smelled a new smell. A wolf! And not one from Drageda, a different one. A shiver of excitement started in his pointy ears and danced down to his little black feet. A little naive, the young explorer bounded in the direction of the wolf, until he found a grey male. He stopped a little bit aways, and did an excited/nervous little jig. Then he barked, Hod op! Chon yu? He shouted resuming his way towards the other and jumping in front of him.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 21, 2017

yay, thanks for joining! :D

Eljay was so captivated in his search that he hadn't noticed the pup's approach. It was only when he heard the voice that he realised someone was near and he startled visibly, interrupting his search for prey and staring wide-eyed with tucked tail at the source of the sound. Only then did he realise that it was just a pup, and he softened; body posture turning back to neutral and a soft, careful smile on his face.

"Uhm, hi," he said, unaware that the pup had spoken in a different language. "I'm sorry, I was just lost in thoughts, uhm..." He wondered idly if this was one of Wildfire's pups, but he also didn't want to pry too much. He also wondered if the pup was allowed so far from the territory, and Eljay hoped the Heda wouldn't mind him talking to the pup. He considered what she'd want him to do; bring back the pup or let him be. In the end he chose neither, for the moment. "I'm Eljay."

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 22, 2017

Bobby was pleased to see the other male submit and stop, just like he'd asked. Maybe Bobby could be an ok guardian, even though it wasn't what he wanted to do. As he stood in front of the grey male, his chest all puffed out, he listened. The other didn't speak his language, which confused Bobby a little. He thought everyone could speak English and Trigedasleng. Maybe it was just this guy who forgot it. The guy apologized for something, and finally Bobby broke his "very convincing" tough guardian facade.

He giggled and laughed, un-puffing his chest fur and sneezing a little. Haha I'm just kiddin. I'm not big scary wolf see! I'm Bobbin! He introduced himself hopping joyfully from foot to foot. The grey male introduced himself as Eljay, and Bobby nodded. What you doing out here? Drageda is that way. Bobby asked, assuming that Eljay was from Drageda too and he just hadn't met him yet.

no problem! I love Eljay and his alone thread made me sad :)

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - July 23, 2017

Please skip me when you guys post. I'll probably post again near the end of the thread.

Thuringwethil easily finds the scent of her son near the borders without any other attached to it. Her ears cup forward, her jaws tighten, and her teeth grind together to find him straying farther than the borders than he is allowed to, especially alone. Following the trail, she tries to note the scent of another that may have taken up companionship with her son but not a single one strays in the same direction and it isn’t until she is near the sound that she finds the thick of it, entwined with the branwoda on the outskirts of her claim. A low rumble vibrates her chest as she turns, listening to the ocean on one side of her and the rest of her senses forward to find her black and red child.

Heavy paws come to a stop when she sees the two in the distance. Their words are slightly muffled and she can only catch about every other one without getting any closer. It is only because this wolf is related to Wildfire that she does not surge forward for disobeying, and by the looks of it Robin has initiated. Her paws itch move, locating the easiest route between her placement and Eljay’s throat should he try something she doesn’t like, but she remains anchored in the distance for the time being.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 24, 2017

The youth remained confident-looking and Eljay was starting to fidget a bit again. He didn't want to offend any of the pups of Drageda, especially if that pup might mean his acceptance or denial into the pack. He thought of Ty and was happy to know he had a place that he could go should he be denied for this.

He let out a breath of relief when the youth un-puffed and dropped the act, afraid he might've had a Nightjar-esque wolf on his hands (which he didn't mind per say — Nightjar was great — but it was just that he would easily have seen that Eljay was a loserly nerdy dweeb and ratted him out as such to the Heda). Only then did Eljay realise he hadn't been breathing this whole time. "Oh!" he said with a softening smile; "Bobbin. That's such a nice name." His tail waved carefully, wanting to make no wrong moves in the presence of the youth.

His breath stopped in his throat again when he saw the Heda in the distance. There was fear in his eyes as he noticed her but then he focussed back to the child quickly, not sure what he should do. "I'm... I'm not allowed, uhm, I — I'm trying to join, but I can't go into the territory." 'Yet', he wanted to say, but his confidence had left him as he had noticed the Heda. He hoped that Bobbin wouldn't be upset at him now because he was an outsider, and maybe Bobbin wasn't allowed to talk to outsiders yet. The Heda was too far away for Eljay to tell if she was angry, but it was a good sign that she hadn't come forward to pin chase him off yet, he supposed.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 25, 2017

Eljay seemed to lighten up a bit, which made Bobby happy. While his moment to feel like a guardian had been fun, Bobby preferred making friends than to being serious. Eljay even complimented him, which made Bobby beam bashfully. Alliteration is fun haha. Thank you! My real name is Robin, but my mommies call me Bobby but my brother calls me Bobbin and I like Bobbin. Eljay is nice name too also! He explained, his tail wagging.

Bobby waited for Eljay to respond to his question, and all of a sudden the light grey male looked spooked again. Was it Bobby? Was Bobby really that intimidating? He realized a few seconds later that Eljay's fearful gaze was aimed past Bobby's shoulders and the boy turned his head to look that way also. Oh trig op! Bobby exclaimed when he saw her. It was Nomi, and she was watching them from a distance. He had tried to be sneaky, but it looked like he'd been caught. He only hoped she wouldn't be angry.

Bobby missed Eljay's response to his question, he was too worried about his mom being angry now. Yeah yeah cool. My Nomi over there. He said, unsure of what else to say or do. Nomi wasn't coming towards them, which meant maybe she wasn't very angry. Maybe she was going to let his sneaking out slide!

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 26, 2017

Eljay wanted to ask about 'mommies', plural, but he didn't get the chance what with Bobbin continuing to talk. He just nodded a few times, listening, and that was when the Heda showed up. It looked like Bobbin was about as startled as Eljay, although for mostly different reasons. Eljay remained frozen while Bobbin watched the Heda, until he eventually, distractedly mentioned his 'nomi' was there.

"What's, uhm... What's a nomi..?" he asked, but then he wondered out loud, "Oh, uh, is that the same as a mommy?" He missed mommy so much... But he needed to be strong and press on. Maybe some day he could return, but right now he felt he'd never been further away from that moment and from joining Drageda. "I'm not sure I'm allowed to talk to you, uhm..." He glanced in the distance, but she seemed not to move closer yet. Eljay just hoped admitting this wouldn't chase Bobbin away from him, because he wanted to socialise with the Drageda wolves and it seemed winning over the pups might be his best bet at this point.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 26, 2017

Bobby nodded when he heard Eljay's question, though his eyes were still fixed on his mom in the distance. She was still just standing there, and that put Bobby at ease. Maybe he wasn't in trouble at all! That'd be awesome. He finally turned back to face his new friend when Eljay said he shouldn't be talking to him. Bobby gave him a confused look, and giggled as he spoke. Why not? For some reason he found the idea silly.

sorry for short post!

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 27, 2017

It was weird that they had all sort of different names for things here, Eljay thought. He had never heard Wildfire use these words when she was still in Redhawk Caldera. Maybe it was a thing of this place? Eljay felt his stomach twist at the thought of the protective mother coming down to hurt him. Then maybe he wouldn't even survive, and joining a pack would be the least of his problems...

He turned back to look at Bobbin with a nervous look in his eyes. "Oh, umh.. I'm still on... uh, trial, I guess, so I'm not allowed to be in the pack territories and uh, I was a puppysitter at my old pack but your mommy said that I wasn't allowed near the pups yet either when we met." It had become a bit of an incoherent rambly story, he realised when he had finished, but Eljay had little hopes that he'd do any better should he start over.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 27, 2017

Bobby didn't often think about Trigedasleng, and how it might be something that only the Drageda wolves knew. There was much he didn't know about the world, about how similar and different his family was from the rest. He assumed every other pack out there as like his own, but that wasn't true. In time he would learn this, especially if his adventurous streak continued. Eljay looked away from Nomi again, that nervous look still in his eyes.

Bobby listened, taking it in an nodding as Eljay spoke. Towards the end the sentences got a little choppy, and Bobbin pursed his lips together quizzically. This guy seemed a little weird, but Bobby wouldn't judge him yet. He was probably just scared, and Bobby couldn't blame him. Nomi was an intimidating woman. Well maybe if you bring me back to Nomi, and tell you found me trying to go, she will let you be in my family! He said, his tail wagging as he thought about what a good plan it was. It might get Bobby in trouble, but he was willing to do it for a friend.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 28, 2017

Eljay hadn't really considered at all that it might be a good thing after all that he would talk to one of the Heda's pups. He wasn't sure that his chances weren't already blown by this move to start with. Eljay blinked and stared at Bobbin for a moment, completely flabbergasted and not sure why Bobbin wanted to help him or why such a strict wolf like the Heda would have pups that were so kind-hearted and sweet for no reason at all to him. He'd expected them to be more like Nightjar, if anything, and maybe worse so because he was a stranger.

"I... Are you sure? I mean, if you're sure... You might get in trouble with your mommy though." Eljay looked sympathetic, as if getting in trouble with his mommy would be as worse as Eljay not getting into the pack (or worse, maybe).

RE: all by myself - Bobby - July 29, 2017

Eljay asked if Bobby was sure and Bobby nodded. He was quite different from his Nomi, in many ways. But he was a lot like his other mom, he had her kind heart. He had Wildfire's heart and Thur's bravery and confidence. His tail kept wagging as he replied, Yeah it's 'k! I's probably gonna get long talk for leaving anyway. This way long talk is also helping you! He said, then turned and started trotting back towards his mom, who still stood not that far off. Kom op ona! He said, turning to look at his new friend.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - July 31, 2017

Eljay swallowed nervously, as he wasn't too sure that this would work. What if the Heda thought he was trying to cheat his way into the pack by claiming something he hadn't at all done? Eljay shifted his weight nervously while he tried to decide what was best, but before he knew it Bobbin was already moving towards his mommy. He quickly followed after, still feeling nervous as he looked towards where the Heda stood.

His posture quickly grew more submissive as he neared @Thuringwethil, tail tucked between his hing legs as he approached and subconsciously licking and nibbling on nothing but air as a sign of surrender. As he was close enough for her to hear he awkwardly started, "I, uh, your Bobbin — y-your son was, uhm, he was wandering out so I thought it would be best if he returned to the pack's territory." He looked after away speaking, biting his lip and feeling uncomfortable, knowing he was blowing it but totally unable to do anything about it. He glanced at Bobbin, somehow hoping he'd be able to save the situation.

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - August 14, 2017

The exchange between her son and the straggler does not last much longer and the distance she stands is relatively muffled. She tilts her head to the side slightly as they now aim for her, Robin a little faster than his new counterpart, and she narrows her gaze when her child is close enough. He doesn’t say anything first, letting Eljay take the floor, and she turns to look over the scrawny male. As he explains the ‘situation,’ she nods once though she hardly believes the story.

“I see,” she says, turning to Robin with a quirked eyebrow in skepticism. Before giving him the chance to explain further, taking the information at face value—as if she believes them—she points her nose off. Fig au dina fra cash fo dula,” she tells the boy.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - August 15, 2017

The black and red wolf and the grey one neared the Heda, the grey one very submissive. Bobby remembered that he had to act busted, so he hung his head too. Bobby glanced at Eljay and waited for him to say something. When at last he did, Bobby nodded along and looked up at his mom. Sorry Nomi. He said, hoping that it was convincing enough to reward Eljay with entrance to their territory. However before he could find that out, Nomi sent him away. Sef Nomi ai gaf in ba- bak op hir! He replied to her, stumbling over his words just a bit. He hoped to stay and make sure things went his way, with Eljay joining the family.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - August 16, 2017

Eljay swallowed thickly as he listened to the interaction between the two, getting no more than 'I see' (luckily he did not look up to see the sceptical look the mother gave her son). Then they spoke among each other in a language he didn't know or understand and he wondered silently if Wildfire spoke this too. Eljay's ears flicked back and forward uncertainly while he remained submissive, not sure what they spoke about.

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - August 16, 2017

I didn't want to PP him leaving in case he wouldn't but I can add it in if you'd like, Pom!

It does not surprise Thuringwethil when Robin speaks back to her, objecting an order. Her eyes turn to him slowly though the frustration she feels does not change her features beyond a flick of her ear. It is not the first time he defies her and it is likely not to be the last but he’ll need to come to terms with who is Nomi and who is Heda. Later, she decides, they will have a talk. For now, she lifts one side of her lips and flashes her teeth in silent warning to do as told. She does not take her eyes away from him, and return them to Eljay, until he has gone.

RE: all by myself - Bobby - August 17, 2017

Bobby looked up at his mom, waiting for her to say something, but instead she flicks an ear. He has seen this ear flick before. To others who don't know her as well, it probably doesn't seem like much. But Bobbin knew that this meant she was annoyed. With him. His ears fell back a little, and he flinched when she flashed her teeth at him. The small black and copper boy stepped back and nodded his head, flashing a glance at Eljay. Moba Nomi. he said to Thur, before turning and heading to the cache.

last for me, unless you wanted Bobby to come back with the prey during this thread xD

RE: all by myself - Eljay - August 17, 2017

Eljay had no clue what was being said and he looked back and forth between mother and son with soulful eyes. Eventually she looked at him and it looked like she was dismissing him. Eljay wasn't too sure if he had interpreted her gesture well, but he awkwardly took a step backward, making ready to leave. He glanced back a few times in case she would call him back and he had misinterpreted what she said, but then turned away, remaining submissive all the way.

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - August 19, 2017

I would like him to pop back in please, Pom! <3 @Bobby. I'll be vague/loose in my posts since she may have brought him back but limited because of future threads. We can end it soon?

Robin seems to pick up the meaning and apologizes but she does not make a motion to acknowledge it. Instead, she watches him move on and into the territory to the nearest cache. She then swings her head back around to see Eljay retreating and she opens her mouth, surprised, but she snaps them shut and takes a step closer. “Eljay,” she calls after him, hoping to keep him from leaving. Even if the situation is likely fabricated, he has done nothing to harm her son—not that she expected him to be capable—and she realizes she’s been much too hard on him. “He will return with something for you to eat,” she announces instead of leaving it as a surprise. “Thank you.”

RE: all by myself - Eljay - August 21, 2017

Just as he turned away he heard his name. After an ear directed at her the rest of him followed and he looked to see what she wanted to say. He smiled softly and appreciatively when she said that Bobbin would return to bring him food. Eljay wasn't too sure why or how he had managed — he didn't think he'd done anything to deserve it — but he knew that his stomach was growling with hunger and that he needed some food or he wouldn't do very well out here so he was happy all the same.

"Thank you so much," he said eagerly, licking his lips submissively and at the anticipation of food while his tail wagged a few beats behind his hocks. He was both happy with the food offered as well as eager to see Bobbin again, for Eljay realised upon socialisation with the youth how much he'd missed being around pups.

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - August 28, 2017

Thuringwethil dips her head once when Eljay speaks up and dutifully remains in place. After several minutes, she glances back over her shoulder to see if she can she can see her son returning. There’s a slight worry he may get distracted on his mission and lose focus but she doesn’t worry about it yet, shuffling her feet a little to settle any growing stiffness. She returns her gaze to Eljay as they wait but she focuses on the sounds behind her, preparing for her son's eventual return.

RE: all by myself - Eljay - September 04, 2017

Eljay waited patiently after that, though there were no more words between them. He felt incredibly awkward and very uncomfortable but remained in submissive silence, deciding that he should just wait because that was still better than trying to talk about something random and senseless. Occasionally Eljay glanced ahead into the territory to see if @Bobby was returning already while waiting in silence.

RE: all by myself - Antumbra - September 10, 2017

Eventually, Robin does return with a rabbit between his teeth. Thuringwethil looks over her shoulder to find him making his way closer and, ultimately dropping the kill in front of the straggler. Her dark grey eyes turn to see the gift received before she returns the attention back to her son and nudging him along. “Go to your mother,” she tells him and she only has to give him one look this time before he darts away. “Eljay,” she says his name again before she steps back and returns home in Robin’s wake.
