The sylph picked her way through the sand, nosing through the grains for anything of interest, the waves lapping at the shore only a few meters away. It was calm, and if the girl ignored the chill and the clouds, she could almost imagine it summer. The dunes were dusted by snow, save for where the ocean pulled herself up when the tides were to their fullest. The waters were receded, now, and the girl examined the strip of land where the ocean left her treasures, having already amassed a small pile of things that had caught her interest.

It was easy, here, alone with the gentle waves and the quiet happiness of discovery. She'd done her part that day already, patrolling the borders and finding little joy in the task, even adding a hare to their caches. It was only when she felt satisfied with her contributions that she'd slipped past the borders to the beach that was quickly becoming her own haven.

Glass on glass broke the silence as she dropped another piece of smooth rock on her pile, unsure of what exactly it was but liking it all the same. It had the weight and feel of a pebble, but was green as moss, almost translucent. Her favorite, however, was the blue she'd found that morning, having never found anything quite so beautiful. Nudging her collection lovingly, she moved a little ways off to poke at a promising lump in the sand.

RE: departing ever so gracefully - Nyx - January 06, 2018

Despite her initial plan to travel further North along the coast, Nyx had opted to hang around the Ankyra Sound for the time being. It was there she'd crossed paths with yearlings Lycaon and Ingram, two brothers, and she'd stuck around purely because they still seemed to be lingering by the sea. Although she'd yet to meet with them again, the golden Ostrega had found fresh trails by them on the damp sands and, curiously, signs that others might have joined them as well.

She was still torn in her decision to either stay or continue for the cliffs, though it had been nice to have friendly companionship close by if she ever intended to seek it. Nyx favoured her privacy, but she took comfort in having the option of reaching out to the brothers if she needed a hunting or sparring partner.

The day was unusually mild, and the sand was looser as the raven-tipped wolfess made her way across the sound. Her bright eyes found the sterling form of a stranger across the beach as she busied herself among the terrain. Nyx veered her way, her pace relaxed and her ears erect atop her head, her interest piqued as she drew near enough to ask, "having fun?"

Carefully did she close her fangs around the sandy lump, tugging it from the surf and turning to lay it further away from the pull of the waves. She froze, however, when her gaze landed on the figure of another; the approach of the woman surely missed in her inspection of the surf. Her encounter with the male had her become a little warier when faced with strangers; while the male had not done anything, he'd acted odd enough to raise her suspicion and have her hurry back to Drageda.

Dropping her stone at her paws, her gaze stayed glued to the woman as she straightened, shifting on pale paws. "I-yes," she replied, faltering, gaze flickering briefly to her little collection.

Sorry for this horrible delay, I am awful. We can finish up quickly if you want since it's so outdated?  :X

When the lithe wolfess froze upon noticing Nyx' approach, she paused. Her gaze found a pair of bright orbs of differing hues, and she canted an ear in curiosity. Bi-coloured eyes were a rare sight in her homeland, and unheard of among those in Ormarr; it had been a long time since she'd seen anyone who'd inherited the trait. The wolves who resided in the Teekon were so varied that anything was possible, she realised, as she briefly studied the girl's pale features to find her cheeks and brow marked by unusual charcoal speckles.

Anxiety gripped the peppered yearling, and Nyx maintained her distance to prevent upsetting her further. Silence fell between them following the duo following the other's stammered retort, and Nyx followed the youth's sideways glance to the collection of coloured stones on the ground. "What are you looking for?"

no worries! I'm slow too
the woman followed her gaze, something which had the girl's heart skip a nervous beat before she quickly scolded herself, resolving to answer confidently. "I'm looking for the clear rocks - those, there." motioning to the pile, and taking some pride in her more confident response, she sylph looked back to the woman, determining her to be of little threat. besides, she'd realized at some point in her maturation that her shyness was merely something that served to hold her back, and something she could not continue to fall back into - especially if she desired to be worth anything in Drageda.
