He thrusts his fists against the posts - Elwood - January 18, 2018

Here we go! Hope everything sounds okay to all involved; if not, please let me know.

Their last night together had passed all too quickly. Huddled close, knowing what the next day could bring, Elwood and Finley had reassured one another of their love, and it was unwillingly that they untangled from each other's embrace in the morning.

Once the troops had been rallied, the wolves of Redhawk Caldera and Drageda made their way toward their destination. It was simultaneously the shortest and longest journey Elwood had ever experienced. In physical distance, Blackfeather Woods was surprisingly close; he felt unease even as the dark forest loomed in the distance. It was a reminder of just how dangerously near they lived to these heathens, and while fear turned his stomach, he also felt a rush of anger.

He exchanged one last kiss with Finley before the two packs separated into their predetermined groups. With @Whip and @Sebastian accompanying him, Elwood felt relatively confident in their odds. None of the three were warriors, per se, but he trusted them.

Using Otter Creek as his guide, the Alpha plunged into the enemy's territory, his senses sharpened as he followed the curve of the river. "Stay close," he said in a low voice to his companions as his yellow eyes scanned the unfamiliar dark trees.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Sebastian - January 19, 2018

Sebastian had already said his goodbyes to Ben and Andalusia, albeit, as reluctantly as Elwood and Finley probably said their goodbyes as well. Sebastian kept to Elwood's right flank, never stepping a foot further than he did. Sebastian had been silent the whole way. His thoughts mostly mulling over the fact that he was going to war. That he would have to battle. At least he had seen Aviana and said his goodbyes to her as well.

They got closer and closer to the woods. Sebastian could feel the unease go through his body. Memories of him confronting his father resurfaced. The male let out a long sigh. They did take his advise and entered through Otter Creek. At least the river would hide their footsteps. Sebastian nodded softly when Elwood spoke of staying close. "Yes, Elwood." Sebastian's whole body was alert and tense. Too tense for his liking. The scent was overwhelmingly disgusting and his eyes had trouble adjusting to the dark.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Whip - January 21, 2018

When the time finally came, Whip was ready. He didn't say any goodbyes to kith or kin as the call to war began -- in fact, Whip hadn't even said a word. Though the war party traveled as a large group, Whip saw to it to stick close to two wolves in particular, Elwood and Sebastian, even before they splintered off on their own. There was an unspoken bond between them, Whip felt, since they were all Redhawk wolves from the before times. Long, long ago before Whip strayed from his home.

Stick close he did. Whip replied with a curt nod of acknowledgment, but nothing more. He was in his own headspace now. He needed to be if he were to kill again. This time, it would be without the burden of guilt. He followed Elwood in silence, seething and letting his anger build and boil over.

Rage. Sweet rage.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Iliksis - January 22, 2018

three agoutis milled in the riverbank ahead, the slender reeds partially obscuring their forms. iliksis studied them with an impassive expression, his gaze betraying little of the apprehension he felt. he was disappointed when the wind carried their scent briefly in his favor - none of them were female. he found life's ironies unappeasing -- and would have much preferred a war party composed of females. at least then he could enjoy looking at them as he killed them.

silently his form filtered back into the bosk's shade -- he had seen @Kove only a few moments prior, and sought after his trail in nimble steps. once he was deep enough in the forest's heartlands he let out a lonely and forlorn howl -- its notes long and sorrowful and foreboding -- a wild and alien sound that shattered the relative peace of the gloomy fen.

the call was mostly to warn @Ithrik -- the rest of the wolves and their fates meant little to iliksis. comfortable he had given his kin suitable warning, iliksis turned back towards the riverbank and made himself known to his potential assailants.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Shivali - January 23, 2018

She isn’t often far from Kove if she can help it. She’s comfortable with him, despite how little show knows, but she finds it easy to talk in their native tongue. There is always a little extra light in his eyes when she does, knowing there are not many—if any—here to give him the same satisfaction. Today, however, she has given him a little space to further explore her new home.

After nothing the scent of another on the wind, mixed with something new and unfamiliar. There are much of the lands and wolves that she doesn’t know that makes her question the change. She knows of the impending war and the possibilities, but she hadn’t really expected it. The forlorn call to someone else makes it her new reality. The disconnect between the others and herself makes it difficult to pursue, but the sight of another that clearly wears their scent makes the others stand out as he makes himself known to them.

Shivali takes a wide step from the dark wolf’s left side, tail swishes behind her briefly before she lifts and evens it with her body. She does not know her pack mate, but nor does she leave him with strangers, and she waits for the first move to be made.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Kove - January 30, 2018

The arrival of their enemies went by unnoticed, at first, a great deal of distance between them and him. But the wind was a kind soul, offering up their scents and setting the northerner on edge—and, if that weren’t enough to convince him, the howl of his packmate made everything clear: the battle had begun. Even without the snapping of jaws and tearing of flesh, the fact alone that they were within the realm of the dark forest was a hit far worse.

Kove did not hesitate to meet them, coming up last alongside his comrades, but just as eager to fight as they; he did not take the lead, he wasn’t so arrogant as to make himself a fool and rush into battle. No—he was the calculative sort, keeping to Iliksis’ right and waiting for them to make the first move; he’d always played the defense, he could not so easily switch to the offense now.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Elwood - January 31, 2018

He's going for Kove; I'm not picky about injuries (nothing too terrible, though!) and I didn't roll for this round but I don't mind if he misses or if Kove blocks the attack. If you'd like to roll for us, Kuro, feel free (or let me know if you want me to roll from now on for details)!

The howl from within the forest only served to increase the feeling of foreboding that was creeping up Elwood's spine. This whole place made him uncomfortable, from the unnatural darkness that seemed to surround them to the stench rising from the disgusting warning signs that had laid as markings on the borders. But with that apprehension came a renewed resolve; the whole reason they were doing this was to put a stop to these strange wolves' sinister ways.

He halted as there was evidence of movement ahead, and within a few moments the enemy appeared. Three of them, sizing up their opponents as Elwood did the same. His gaze roved over each wolf for a split second that seemed to last years. Then, without allowing himself to think too much, he peeled his lips back from his teeth with a snarl. "Go," he instructed to Whip and Sebastian as he lunged forward, aiming for the large white male.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Sebastian - February 01, 2018

Seb's injuries. Lauren and I have been talking and for her next post she knows what to do and can Powerplay Seb's injuries. Its all cool :D Beat him up!!!! :'D

Sebastian's heart skipped a beat when he saw the three wolves materialize before their group. Sebastian knew that this would be the moment he would have to prove himself. He had stayed out of loyalty but he didn't want to fight. He felt the nerves in his gut. The male noticed a white wolf and thought he remembered him but he couldn't linger for too long. Elwood signaled for them to attack. Sebastian curled his lip over his teeth and charged towards the trio.

He went for a black wolf that was tough to see against the dark background. Why did he pick this one? Probably because he was the closest to him. Sebastian bared his maw and let out a snarl. He didn't know how to protect his neck or to have a good fighting stance but he would do this for the Caldera. He just hoped he would live to survive this. Perhaps he should keep his focus on the fight.

He needed to get him on the ground right, or at least injured. Neck, belly and perhaps paws. He knew this from hunting. Perhaps he just needed to see the other as prey. Yeah. Yeah. He could do that. This wolf was prey. Prey. Prey. He could do this. Sebastian charged at him with his large and slow body. He rushed close to the other and tried to go for his neck and hopefully he could just choke the other until he passed out....

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Whip - February 02, 2018

Feel free to beat Whip tf up.

The others came from the darker corners of the wood, moving slowly and silent from the shadows. It surprised him to see that they had found the war party so quickly -- but what surprised him even more was the Blackfeather wolves' inaction in the face of the Redhawk coalition. Were they simply content to stand and watch? Waiting and posturing; all useless. Perhaps they knew their war was already lost. Attempt to strike peace. Minimize casualties.

Were they afraid?

Whip saw red. He broke off beside Elwood and surged for the female. He remembered Themiscyra and what he had done there. He remembered the sound of tearing sinew and the gurgle of a crushed, torn throat. He remembered the blood -- oh the blood and how it spilled into the sand. Foregone, Whip was there again in his mind. He somehow saw the girl's face mirrored in Shivalli's features.

He did as he did then. Whip went for her fucking throat.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Iliksis - February 04, 2018

they came - three wolves abreast with their gazes baptized by fire. he watched them stride along the ground and break formation and he stood his ground until a wolf many ways his superior came upon him. he hunched over into the ground and bared his teeth in rejoinder and the two entertwined in fierce battle. fur and snow flying. their hocks and limbs rapidly pressing against the snow while white powder rose around them.

he did not know this male's name but he thought he would kill him. he was twice his size and while iliksis thought he detected a lack of confidence the male outmuscled him on more than one occasion - many times he was rebuffed, thrown against the ground. many times he rose again and fell upon the agouti until the ground was splattered with dark welts of crimson and deep groves marked their scuffle in the snow.

at one point they were side by side and sebastian's teeth found his muzzle with rakish impunity. at another they were flank to flank at opposite ends and iliksis felt pain sear his shoulder as hooked tooth sunk through it and blood rose profusely to the surface. in their fierce fight he found himself once at sebastian's tail and driven by pain he sought to sink his teeth into the male's rump and instead found a mouthful of tail that he wrenched to his best ability until he felt a sickening crunch of bone -- he might have made off with this trophy were it not for sebastian's defensive onslaught that left him limping. on several occasions iliksis thought the male's experience would be easily manipulated into his favor only to be quickly rebuffed by brute force. they jawsparred and they bit and nipped and scythed and parried; over and over until both were panting with fatigue and numbed by raw pain.

there were a few times iliksis became too brazen in his approach and sebastian's fangs found him -- the dark male's energy was rapidly expiring and he knew it. exhaustion began to creep in each of his parries and blows and his fur was matted in many places with blood that was mostly his own. a glance at the battlefield around him told him all he needed to know -- if he was to live today, he was to run -- for no assistance was coming and the redhawk wolves were more than capable of driving them back.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Shivali - February 06, 2018

The others go first, the apparent leader of the group encouraging them on, and she barely sees who is paired with whom. She barely recognizes Kove is with them when one surges for her. Her head is low and she shuffles back only to plant her feet on the ground and garner a little solid ground. It does go without failure as she feels teeth tear against her skin, canines grinding through fur as she yelps out, more startled than anticipated. She is much out of practice and still travel weary from her time alone, and to be rushed into war isn’t what she really wanted to do.

Shivali snarls, leaning forward despite the sudden break of her skin, and snaps her teeth around the side of Whip’s face, attempting to latch onto the skin around his ear and tear him away while pushing forward with all she has.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Kove - February 12, 2018

Click for my lame wounds-roll-thing. Gash wherever (I don’t care where) and torn ear. I also have no idea if you meant roll for hits or roll for wounds rip

The enemy makes the first move, a silver streak lunging towards him. Kove had only barely settled into place when he was engaging in battle, his body, though aching, meeting his opponent’s head-on; he was not using his head, acting before thinking in a rare demonstration of foolish actions. But there was no time to think—not when there was a male coming towards him. He lunged forth, too, with jaws opened wide; he did not intend to bite down first, always slow to tear into flesh, he simply aimed to use Elwood’s momentum against him by barreling into his approaching form.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Elwood - February 13, 2018

lol who even knows *flails*

His comrades acted on his command, but after their initial charge forward, Elwood lost track of Sebastian and Whip. He was aware of them close by, clashing with the other two Blackfeather wolves, but he was too focused on his own battle to take notice of any specifics happening around him. He and his chosen opponent seemed fairly evenly matched, although the white wolf was larger; and while Elwood's teeth and claws found purchase in his first attack, the other male managed to send a reverberating impact rattling through his bones when he stopped his forward momentum.

But he was quick to regain his balance, and as he lunged again from a much closer distance, he raked his teeth through the Blackfeather's ear. He lost himself to the minutiae of the fight, his blood pounding in his ears as he struck and defended in the odd dance of war, taking his fair share of hits from his adversary, until he was so tired he could barely feel his own limbs but it seemed -- somehow -- that victory was glimmering on the horizon.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Sebastian - February 15, 2018

Sebastian was far too unprepared for this. But he managed to put in a few hits. The male liked to think he was doing a good job but the other male kept going. Even if he was thrown against the ground or any other attacks. He kept coming back at him. Sebastian cried out when he felt the pain shoot though his spine, coming from his tail. He tried to bite the other as revenge but he didn't know if it was a hit.

But in their fighting, and their tiring muscles, it was not the end for Sebastian. He thought the pain coming from his tail was bad. The big male cried out when a jolt of pain went through his shoulder. He instantly lost his balance and toppled over. He fell on that hurting shoulder. Sebastian passed out briefly in pain. Though it was only a few seconds? When he opened his eyes he saw the blood underneath him. Sebastian tried to push himself to his feet, but he looked more like a scrambling deer.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Whip - February 16, 2018

Teeth tore away at Whip's face as he tried for naught to get his jaws around the woman's neck. He was disfigured, horribly, though it hardly shook his stoney resolve. No -- it strengthened him. He fought through the pain and found his center in it. It was a resourse to be used; to be spent. Pain begat anger, and anger begat hate. And though hatred, Whip's victory was assured. Through the power of hatred, Whip's chains were forever broken.

Though she took his ear from him, Whip was determined to take more. He remained fixed on her windpipe as he waited for the prime opportunity to crush it between his teeth. In the meantime, Whip snarled and gnashed at whatever he could with rabid intensity in the hope that he could somehow bait the woman into exposing her throat to him.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Iliksis - February 21, 2018

i hope this post is ok - PM me if not - i assume iliksis is running at this point? feel free to do any minor PP going forward since i have no idea what's happening anymore haha

they sparred with desperation, their teeth clashing and droplets of blood splattering in the crisp white snow. he was tiring. several times the larger male had bested him; a fresh-laid score on his shoulder from sebastian's teeth pulsed blood freely, matting his fur a glistening and dark shade. he was finding his efforts were slaking - dully he was aware of sensational pain -- but he was more aware he was about to die if he was not careful.

he winced in pain as he connected with sebastian and the male fell to the ground. a glance around him showed his packmates fared no better. he did not wait for sebastian to find his feet -- with several hobbling strides he pulled into a flat but crippled run, making for the ensnaring forest on quick, cowardly limbs.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Kove - February 25, 2018

Kim, feel free to have Elwood get in a few more wounds before or as he flees!

He felt the pinch of teeth against his flesh several times, though the only thing that gave him pause was the shredding of his ear; it bled profusely, sliding down the side of his head and, briefly, blinding him as a stray flow crept down the front of his face. He shook his head in an attempt to regain his full line of vision in both eyes, then lunged once more towards his opponent, this time with the intention of biting into his face—or anywhere else he could reach.

But then the sound of retreating footfalls met his ears, and he glanced towards his pack mates long enough to see the darkest of the trio retreating; they were down to two, putting them at a disadvantage. He snapped several times more in Elwood’s direction, aiming to bite and release as quickly as he could. With a sharp bark in Shivali’s direction immediately after, he took off—his turn was slow, leaving his right side open—towards her before following after Iliksis, equally angered by his cowardice as he was thankful; they were unprepared, taken by surprise—they never stood a chance.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Shivali - February 25, 2018

Shivali has had her share of fights and battles against others but something in Whip is different than she’s experienced. He moves as if he doesn’t care, as if he doesn’t feel the pain she’s causing—she feels every laceration and throw he gives her before she can get the flesh of his ear from her mouth. His acceleration slows her down, catching her off guard as movements become erratic and she’s in over her head. She doesn’t have a chance to see what’s going on around her and how the other wolves are down, but Kove’s bark is enough to drive her back a little and give up from trying defending against the agouti wolf. Seeing her friend retreat, and commanding her to do the same, drives her away from Whip and back with her own with too many injuries to account for in the moment.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Elwood - March 02, 2018

Sorry for the delay, had a couple super busy days at work! So BFW wolves are all fleeing now, correct? I'm guessing this will be the last round then? I can throw on a concluding post once Whip and Sebastian post again, if that works!

Thanks to everyone for your cooperation and patience <3

Somehow, in all the din, Elwood became aware that their opponents were backing off. His challenger wasn't the first to do so, but once the white male realized that his comrades were beginning to flee, he did the same. He was able to land a few bites on Elwood's hide before he turned and barked a command to the single she-wolf that had been a part of the fray.

Elwood didn't let him slip away so easily, though. Rather than stand still and watch the retreat, he loped after the threesome as they dispersed into the woods. He slowed his pace as they seemed to disappear into the infinite darkness, and finally halted with sides heaving and blood trickling from the various scrapes and lacerations he had been dealt.

He then turned back to Whip and Sebastian, and saw Sebastian struggling to stand, his tail now a severed, bloodied stump. Elwood cursed softly under his breath, then looked to Whip, surveying the younger male's mangled face with tired eyes. "Let's get out of here," he murmured hoarsely.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Andalusia - March 02, 2018

Andalusia in and Andalusia out.

Blackfeather Woods. The tang of blood soaked the darkness and Andalusia curled her lip. She had followed the barbarian here - his scent trail, at least. He had managed to flee from them with his life - but not this time. She would make sure of that.

Movements peeled between the shadows, chilling and unfamiliar. The forest resounded with the din of war, and Andalusia rushed into the thick of it.

The battle unfolded in chaos, and blood masked every scent, but she knew her own by sight - Elwood. A scrappy boy.

And Sebastian. The sting of bile touched her throat.

He fell to the ground by one of the scum, and she rushed forward with a snap of her jaws just as the dark one pulled away. Her teeth clicked with the empty air, and the Blackfeather's scent engulfed her. His scent was unmistakable, and she sprung to follow - only to hitch mid-step to swing back to Sebastian. Blood pooled around him - he staggered to get up. She could overtake the heathen, she knew. He was injured, she could tell by his stagger - but that wasn't what was needed of her now.

Frustration pressed her breath. She hardly cared for what consequences might come for leaving her post with the pups, but she had a good reason - she had been doing they'd asked. And now, she would help as she could here. Andalusia pressed against Sebastian's side to offer him something firm to lean against, as she had once offered him on a similar day, a long, long time ago.

They had to stop meeting like this.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Sebastian - March 04, 2018

Sebastian's nostrils flared when he scented Andalusia. What was she doing here?! The male struggled to get to his feet. "Anda," he croaked. He stumbled against her and buried his nose in her fur. Why was she here?! Why did she abandon her post? Elwood spoke of leaving. And it was then that Sebastian realized that their opponents were gone. They... won? It didn't feel like they had won.

Sebastian struggled to follow his leader and stumbled forward. His vision blacking out. He regained some consciousness and just kept his focus to stay with Andalusia. His whole body was complaining but as long as he was close to her, he was safe. He didn't realize that they might not be able to keep up, though he would sure try.

RE: He thrusts his fists against the posts - Elwood - March 12, 2018

Thankfully, Andalusia was there to help Sebastian get home. Elwood doubted that he and Whip could have managed it alone, but it was helpful to have another wolf there -- even though her sudden arrival had been entirely unexpected and meant that his children were missing one of their caretakers. But rather than chastise her, Elwood simply gestured for her to follow with Sebastian, to the best of her abilities.

He and Whip moved ahead, their pace slow due to their own injuries and because they didn't want to leave Sebastian and Andalusia behind. They limped out of Blackfeather Woods, not feeling like winners but glad to still be alive.
