if i'm betting against you - Dio - January 20, 2018

The day they had all been waiting for had finally dawned, and they were in motion with the Caldera sinking away slowly behind them. Now, it was left to circumstance if their patience and preparation would grant them any type of edge. He couldn't say, but he did know they were as ready as they should--and could--be. Now, Drageda and the Redhawks made their way towards the dark woods with their intentions clear and sure to leave a mark on their histories.

He was calm and ever watchful as the dark forest loomed until it was time to split. He said brief his farewells and wishes of a good battle to come, then saw the others off, and finally turned to his duo of @Shrike and @Allure with a knowing nod. With only that, the wocha began to guide them all a hasty path westward to get ground covered before veering any closer and towards the north; his wished to approach them far from the others, and from a different vantage. Without knowing the fullest extent of the territory's inner workings, he wanted to further ensure they covered all of their bases and come at them from all avenues.

When he was comfortable from the meadows just beyond their reach, their route steered closer--and closer still, until the bloodstained, marked boundaries sprawled before them. His nose curled, leaving him to wonder how soon this may escalate from here. Then, stealing half a pause, Dio looked towards his Redhawk comrades to make sure they were all as ready as last glance before he went delving any deeper into the unfamiliar stench of their claim.
rolled an odd 3 per this thread = lose/retreat for drageda/rhc here!

RE: if i'm betting against you - Aries - January 26, 2018

He had been eagerly waiting for the time to come, his first war. The prospect of such a large battle sent shivers of odd excitement down his spine, though also the intense desire to defend was strong enough for him keep an ever watchful eye on the land wherever he walked. The Reaper patrolled the borders often, only doubling his work efforts when he felt the time drawing closer.

Now, when he caught scent of the unfamiliar wolves passing through the Blackfeather domain, after having already crossing the gruesome borders, he was quick to locate them. He stalked amongst the shadows until the three enemy soldiers came into his sharp line of sight. Aries watched silently, his cover of darkness inbetween the trees providing enough camouflage for him to hide out temporarily. He was tempted to straight out attack them, to viciously tear their stomachs and necks until the very snow coating the ground was thick with their blood. But he waited a moment more, contemplating whether a comrade might find their way and aid him in this battle.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Ithrik - January 26, 2018

Death was upon them all, and though the patchwork hound was not too remarkable at catching signs, he knew that there was something dangerous in the air. The wolves of the wild wood were preparing themselves for a war and he had been asked to assist. The devil did not feel as though he owed his allegiance to the pack or the leadership within it, but he was provided an opportunity to feast. The brute's appetite had not be sated in some time, and he had started to grow restless in his period of waiting. His desirous acts would certainly affirm Ithrik's actual fealty was pledged to the taste of corpuscles and supple hide.

Following the unknown male wolf in a quiet manner, Ithrik noted the antsy movements in his young body and the sharp glint of his eye. The devil was almost intrigued to see if he would be able to overtake one of his own pack members and drive them into the earth. He was more of a hunter, though, and so he remained far enough back that he could watch and listen, but not be found. The cover of the trees could shroud him well enough. Each step brought him closer to the hocks of the stranger, until Aries had stopped and caused Ithrik to pause as well in his pursuit.

It seemed that there were other bodies in the wild wood. A sense of delight bubbled up from within the vile hound's gut. He trained his tangerine gaze on the male up front and drew his tongue along his lips with a deep hunger. Slinking forward, he placed a few feet of distance between himself and the other wolf from Blackfeather before he stepped from the brush and made himself known to the enemy in their land. His inky lips were curled in a jubilant expression and rotten teeth peeked from below. Already, his hackles were bristled and raised along his back. Ithrik swayed in place before darting back into the brush to wait for their pursuit.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Allure - January 29, 2018

Claiming she was apprehensive was an understatement. Allure kept close to her mate’s side, her heart hammering in her chest. She had not been to war, but she had been on the receiving end of acts of violence. Her breathing quickened every so often, the only soothing course during their travel was when she would brush against @Shrike, reassuring herself all would be well.

They had branched off from the others – a Drageda wolf by the name of Dio leading them forward. The bi-toned she-wolf had not understood why they had divided their numbers at all – wouldn’t it have been more effective to hit the wolves of the forest with a mass, rather than a few here and there? But she was no tactician, and all she could do was put her faith in the ones who lead them toward this battle.

The sight that met them when they had come to the borders was sickening. It became clear to her why the wolves were a threat to the Caldera. She felt a wave of nausea then – her heart quickening as she could feel the blood pumping, as if her head would erupt. She felt panicked – recalling the feel of fangs upon flesh, the helplessness when another pinned you down.. What brutality and hate felt like.

She froze then – but two others emerged from the trees, and she stiffened. Her slender neck arched, her muzzle jutting low to protect herself. She was not experienced in the ways of battle, but survival and instinct overtook her – and when one of the dark wolves darted in to the cover of the forest, she felt her ears slide back and a snarl escape her white-tipped jaws.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Dio - January 30, 2018

Stride by stride they carried on into these foreign woods. The wocha remained silent, vigilant.. and always with an ear occasionally turning towards the duo of Redhawks while he searched ahead for signs of others coming to investigate, interfere or otherwise. For now, he found it wisest that they stick close. Not knowing what this eerie forest could have in store for them meant he wanted all of their eyes and ears nearest to each other so long as they were able.

He wondered how the others fared. If they had been met immediately, if they had taken down their foes already, if all of his comrades still lived.. Endlessly so. Their swinging-wide may have put them at step behind the others, but he would not know. Not right now. Nothing on the wind had said otherwise.

Soon after the thought occurred, he knew they were no longer alone.

They were granted only a glimpse and a wicked grin from one for certain before the darkness gave cover once more. Dio's hackles rose before his tail went up even taller. He stood his ground with a bold stance, even taking another few steps to make it utterly clear that he was the focal point of their group. Without knowing how many others there were precisely, he still wanted their focus for as long as they could. Anything on them was off his commander, after all. He was out of his element on their strange hallowed grounds, but pride kept him standing firm among what was theirs, knowing well what it looked like, with his teeth on display.
i've written about verrry vague injuries on return to drageda so i am okay with that stuff if it goes on (depending on how much you all wanna hash this out too ofc)

RE: if i'm betting against you - Maevra - January 31, 2018

war. she did not care for it, did not care who won and who lost. but vaati had demanded that she fight, and fight she would, gaze vacant as she slipped betwixt the barren trees, the ravens she'd gotten accustomed to oddly silent. she could not find him, no, but instead, she stumbled upon a small group, circling round before drawing up beside that dark man that she found to be on their side, swaying side to side as a kind of giddy energy rushed up inside, gaze fixed on the man before slipping to the bi-toned girl. For a moment she wavered, but the bubble of battle-lust filled her quickly, and the girl had sacrificed her self-control long ago. She moved, heedless of the male, towards the girl, fangs aiming to trap shut on her face. Her attacks were maniacal and driven by emotion, the same wild fire that danced in her gaze.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Aries - February 20, 2018

Short post to keep this moving ^-^

He observed for a moment before a figure appeared at his side, a brute who seemed intent on making his own mark in this battle. He taunted the group before darting into the bushes, and Aries remained under the cover of darkness for a few heartbeats longer before shooting out of the shadows and leaping toward the large male [Dio] that led the enemies into the Blackfeather's domain, jaws wide and ready to latch onto a limb or simply sink his fangs into the flesh of this wolf. The fight had begun, and the Reaper would do his part.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Ithrik - February 22, 2018

There was an uneasy air to the group. The piebald fiend had slunk back into the safety of the brush to watch the approaching wolves with some modicum of interest, but it seemed that the fellow member of his pack was not interested in surveying their bedfellows. Aries had bolted from his place and took an aggressive dive toward the cream-colored male with dual eyes. All that Ithrik could think was what a nice addition they would have made to his collection – one teal and one a glistening orange. He rather enjoyed that prospect. Still, the war that he had been thrust into was not his and he did not find himself feeling particularly swayed to join the battle just yet. Instead, he watched from his perch in the darkness and feasted on the sight before him; that of a beautiful woman with a cloak of grey and eyes like the sharpest of sea water. The devil drew his tongue along his lips and his breathing fell in heavy rasps.

Drawn as he was to the woman, he still did not leave his hiding place. He wished to see what would become of his pack companion.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Dio - February 24, 2018

He stood firm, and soon, they began to come forward to answer their display. First descended an agouti-coated opponent, erratic and reeking of unpredictability to him already as she went for Allure. Dio could only begin a pivot her way by the time a second contender, a dark shadow coming fast, joined them as well--and this time, with his teeth set to the wocha's hide. He demanded his attentions, and so the golden Drakru would meet him.

His speed and momentum would get him in close. Dio turned defensively, neck shielded, but the motion was not enough in full. Teeth grazed over his shoulder to leave an angry slice behind, and now that things were in motion, he turned his own snapping teeth back upon the dark reaper instantaneously. He moved to arc around him, and stay near. Only vaguely, he believed others still hung nearby; this couldn't be the whole of them--a young male and wild-eyed female? There had been the glimpse of the other, but even that did not seem like enough to match the reputation that proceeded them in such a dreary woodlot. Now busy with Aries, he could not keep his sights on all who lurked and loomed.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Shrike Redleaf - February 26, 2018

ooc: sorry b'ys- went inactive because of some major lifestyle changes...Will keep this vague- just enough to kind of make an appearance, get his butt kicked, and retreat.

ic: War wasn't something Shrike wanted. His heart raced the closer the trio got to Blackfeather Woods, and his hackles lifted in anticipation. What frightened him most was not the possibility of his own demise-but that he would lose Allure. His foolhardy decision to join the Caldera was not endangering her life, and he regretted the decision immensely. Still, at that back of his mind, lingered a small plan. It was a cowardly one, but if left with the decision between fighting to the death for his pack and abandoning, so he could live a life with Allure, he knew what his choice would be.

The matches were well set, when they finally came across their opponents. He lingered close by Allure's side, and watched as one male made a move for Dio. He allowed this to pass, as a female set her sights on Allure. Incapable of tolerating this, Shrike snarled and thrust himself between them, feeling the mad female's teeth rake his shoulder that would shield Allure's face from harm. Curving his body toward her, he growled and launched a counterattack.

It was all a haze- the pain of fangs and rush of anger, only to be blotted out by the fear that he would lose his mate. He knew they were done for- they were being overpowered. Eventually, after the standoff, he would turn his head to Allure, and bark at her- a gruff, commanding tone, to usher her away. He would use every bit of his strength to hold the others off until she was gone, before the injured male himself made a retreat.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Aries - March 11, 2018

Teeth met skin in a violent clash as the youth hit a mark (well, grazed over) on the enemy's shoulder - he could taste the thick blood stain his teeth and roll over his tongue as the man snapped back in an arc around the ashen youth. Aries allowed a small smirk to pain his features, lips curling upward as they relished in this delightful feeling.

Now that he had the stranger's attention, they could truly battle. The Reaper danced around him, as if teasing, before darting forward in an attempt to land another blow. If he scored again, he would drive his fangs deep into this wolf's flesh. If he was to miss, he would leap back and hopefully avoid being wounded. It mattered little to him if he gained new scars, but nevertheless he would prefer to avoid injury.

RE: if i'm betting against you - Dio - March 13, 2018

Now engaged, he focused on their reaper and set his teeth against his mightily. They clashed, a shifting whirl of fur, flesh, and attack and defense volleying back between the two. Dio brought power and experience, and his combatant answered with fury and precision of his own as they carried on in battle. He knew he tasted blood, and vaguely, he knew the earth underfoot would be littered with his own--the rush of the fight, and all that was at stake because of it, kept him unaware of the hurts for now. The wocha spared no glance and instead, stayed locked on the opponent. When the wolf of the woods got his teeth set onto his leg, Dio tried to take advantage of any proximity he could. He swung vicious bites for any piece of him, looking to overpower and rend, whichever he could reach first, before he wrenched away to begin the dance anew.

And in some fleeting lull of it, he realized Allure and Shrike--or the lack thereof. Fatigue was burning at his muscles, he didn't know how their fight had fared (somehow, he doubted good), and soon enough he heard howls going up. The wocha didn't intend to have this be his last stand. If this one wore him down, another stood lingering in the background to finish him, and for how long? Out-numbered and over-gunned here, they were forced to retreat.
i was vague to help conclude this <3 i rolled with nasty injuries on his front leg, a broken tooth, and lots of cuts here and there (feel free to write out more if you want too i don't mind!)

RE: if i'm betting against you - Ithrik - March 15, 2018

Ithrik exit so we can close this out.

Ithrik watched as the forest wolf and the intruder dove into battle, matching fang with fang. The devil was not interested in their petty squabbles, but he did like the appearance of the grey-cloaked female with sea blue eyes. He grinned at the sight of their reflecting green in the sharp light. Others found their way to the same mark, but none that drew his eye.

Not interested in fighting, the piebald fiend simply held his ground in the darkness of the wood until the snarling and biting started to tire him. Just as he had arrived, the devil turned to the shadows and slunk away with bristling fur. Unless the Blackfeather wolves were the gabbing type, none of them would know that he did not assist them in their deplorable cause. He was on the hunt for a different means of winning a fight.
