Gitchee Gitchee Goo - Alkyone - February 12, 2018

@Anatha mainly (Please let her post first), but since it's at the borders, anyone can join really

How she had escaped the scary man was a mystery, for her feet and mind has scurried so fast that she remembered barely anything of the encounter. She was always good at forgetting, though she wasn't very proud of that. And so, she had also forgotten where she was planning to go, turned, and made her way to the Hinterlands. She traveled for so long in such silence that she had partly given up on finding any nice wolves around, but the scent of a pack drew her in and she simply had to check it out.

With her tail between her hind legs and pancake-ears draped over her scruff, she approached warily. She woofed, far softer than she had intended, since she could only feel the vibrations in her throat which confirmed she was at least making some noises. She quietly stood there, waiting, slowly shifting from side to side.

She had not expected to find herself anywhere near the borders that day, nor had she expected to hear the tiny sound that sent her hackles on end. For a moment, she was still; the tiny sound so soft and out of place among the silence, she imagined that she had almost imagined it. Carefully, slowly, she made her way toward the sound, pausing only when a brief flicker of movement confirmed it. It was after a moment poised that she approached, woofing softly in turn and moving to stand in sight of the stranger, now determined to be a small girl.

Alkyone could not hear the alerting woof of the stranger, so when she stepped in her line of sight she perked up and trembled somewhat backwards. Her head lowered like a fawn would hold it when scared, eyes open wide to see if she could read the other's lips.

Eeeellro... She greeted, voice strangely strained and weird-sounding to anyone but herself. She raised a paw to her chest to point at herself then. Aa... Alkyone. Her name was perhaps the easiest thing for her to say, since she had practiced so many times with her parents.

the woman skittered backward, reminding the girl suddenly of a doe with her large eyes and expressive ears. she paused carefully, glancing over her once. her gaze was drawn back to her face only when she began to speak, the sound odd-sounding and strained. "hello?", she murmured in turn, word both an echo of the girl's greeting and a question.

she named herself, of so the woman though, and in the interest of acting carefully in the face of the fawn-like stranger she slowly echoed again the action, yet instead substituting  "anatha."

With an intense stare did she focus upon the other's mouth. "hello" she could read and she smiled. She was greeted! Already this was going far better than the conversation with the rude male that had seen her more like an object to be owned instead of the small red wolf she was.

Ah.. Nah... Tah? Her brows knitted together. She hoped she had gotten that right, but names weren't just words. They were abstract most of the time and harder to read.
