Boulder Huntin' - Korei Julia - March 11, 2018

Korei was feeling rather hungry...and she hadn't explored this area too much. Or the animals that lurked in this area. So she got the bright idea of going off to find something to try to eat...even though she was quite possibly not that good of a hunter, if not the worst in the group.

@Alarian

The day seemed long, and Alarian was bored-- and lonely, if he was being honest. He wandered through the territory in search of Korei, deciding her company would best fit his mood right now. Vague anxiety tugged at his chest every so often, urging him out in pursuit of adventure; perhaps her sweet, home-like presence would ground him.
When he found her, he bounded up with a brief yip and furious wags of his tail, planting a few kisses on her face if she allowed it.
Korei! Ali greeted fondly, tilting his head. What are you getting up to today?

Korei Julia stretched out in the sun, stretching her forelegs before hearing a voice she enjoyed hearing. Lifting her head she spotted Alarian coming in her direction and felt her tail wagging behind. She accepted his kisses, giving a few of her own back.

"Hi Ali!" she greeted back. "I was going to look for something to eat. Some food, something small...I feel so hungryyy" she said in a childlike manner, and her tummy grumbled in response.

The boy smiled in response, nuzzling into Korei a bit as he spoke again. Wanna hunt together, then?
As soon as he got his answer, Alarian led her towards the creek, where he knew they would surely find some small prey hidden among the rocky terrain on the northern shoreline. He put his nose to the ground and sniffed intently. With any luck, they would pick up a scent soon enough.

One could swear Korei's eyes lit up upon the suggestion. She smiled as he nuzzled her. Korei followed Alarian to the creek. And then she set to work, doing the same as Alarian, as she had been taught to do in the past when taught how to hunt. "What do you think we'll find?" she asked quietly, keeping her voice low in case something was near.

Uhh... food, I hope. Alarian's distracted answer came as a mumble, head turned in the other direction as he caught a scent. He swept his tail against Korei briefly to get her attention, then crept towards the source-- a rabbit. When he thought he was close enough, the boy took off after it.

A sharp rock caught his paw and he stumbled, falling flat against the ground. His landing wasn't as rough as he had expected, though it knocked the breath out of him and for a moment he was stunned. Disappointment flooded him, but in the next moment he became distinctly aware of warmth under his chest. Something twitched under him a bit further down, near his belly, and he shrieked.
Ali was on his paws in an instant, barely noting the bite of cold against what he suddenly registered as wetness on his chest. Pale gold eyes fixed on the spot he had occupied just a moment ago; it was the rabbit. He had crashed into it, crushed its' head and neck with his fall. A quiet, relieved giggle escaped him. The boy looked to his chest, then, and began to furiously groom it when he realized it was blood from the rabbit. He was embarrassed now, and dared not look at Korei.

Korei made a little giggle at his answer. Then she got back to it, sniffing around the ground. Korei Julia turned her attention to Alarian as soon as she felt his tail. She got to creeping then along with him. Then suddenly, he was off and she was stunned for a moment as he went off. She lifted her head then began moving after him quickly.

"Ali!" She had called out, but he was already upon the rabbit. Then he...fell? She got worried for a moment quickly as she moved upon him. Then saw that he had fallen on the rabbit, and heard his relieved giggle. "You got it, Ali! You-" Korei noticed how he was grooming himself and giggled once more.

RE: Boulder Huntin' - Alarian - March 23, 2018

The boy resisted the urge to shrink at Korei's giggle, instead continuing his grooming until the blood was gone. He shook his coat out and offered a smile.
Your turn, now! Ali announced, eyes flitting over everything but the dead rabbit. He did want to see her hunt-- there was likely more to teach her still, and the only way she would learn was through practice. The boy fell silent now, sniffing for another scent and half-watching Korei expectantly.

Korei stopped her giggling fast when he said that. He wanted her...to hunt? She was not so great at that...but for him she would try at least. Especially if it meant impressing Alarian. So she got her nose down to trying to catch a scent. And soon, she caught one and started off in a it's direction.

She got down low to sneaking, and she spotted a rabbit of her own. Korei started to get closer...then bolted off after them. She made a pounce onto the unsuspecting rabbit and managed to grab it by one of it's rear legs. Pulling it towards her, ignoring it's little squeals she quickly moved her jaws to it's neck while holding it down with a paw. And just like that, she had succeeded and she smiled with a bloody maw towards Alarian. "I got it" she said, tail wagging with an adorable smile...despite the blood.

Ali hung back after a moment, observing the pale girl's progression. He found himself impressed-- she had quickly picked up the basics.
Even so, he was admittedly a bit surprised when she caught the rabbit. A smile lit his face and he moved closer to lick her cheek, not bothered by her scarlet-stained mouth.
Good job. The boy told her, sincere but already distracted by another scent. This time it was fox. He nosed Korei's ear lightly before turning to track it, not wanting to lose the opportunity for more food. The scent took him towards the creek, stronger along the small rocky shoreline.
A dozen steps later, he spotted the source of the scent. The scrawny thing had tucked itself between thick, raised tree roots braided through the rocks. Alarian stilled for a moment-- then, too soon, took off after it. Wary and feral, the fox darted easily from the boy's grasp and out of sight. A frustrated snort escaped him, but was abruptly cut off when he realized he had leapt too far.
Ali's paws splayed out, attempting to brace himself against the tree roots or the rocks or something. It didn't work. Several rocks scattered into the water just seconds before the boy himself fell gracelessly into the creek. He was immediately soaked. Spluttering and coughing, he rose from the water a moment later only to flop backwards and back in. There were several moments of movement-- not quite flailing but more animated than writhing.
At some point, he gave up and resigned himself to drowning in two feet of water. It was then that he regained his footing and promptly flung himself from the water like a dying porpoise.

Korei dropped her dead rabbit and would be sure to remember where it was. She smiled as he licked at her cheek and at his compliment then kept her eyes on him. She spotted the fox as she followed a bit behind. He went off after it, and she started to go faster to catch up. She eventually lost track of him however, and kept on going in the direction he had gone.

Only to find him....flailing in a creek. She couldn't help but giggle till he flopped over to land. "You all right Ali?" she asked, nosing at him with a smile. She saw he hadn't gotten his catch. "I lost sight of you, how did you end up in a creek?"

RE: Boulder Huntin' - Alarian - March 27, 2018

The boy was still, save the heaving of his chest, for several beats. After the shock wore off, though, he hopped to his feet easily, as if he hadn't just gotten done thinking he was going to drown in a shallow creek. He shook his coat out a few times, flinging water.
I'm fine! Ali insisted in Korei's direction, not quite looking at her. His pelt was spiky now, sticking in all directions; his tail, still sodden despite his efforts, was vaguely reminiscent of a rat tail. Shamed, cold, and a little irritable now, he went to retrieve his hare without another word to Korei. He'd deposit it in the growing cache and then go die of mortification, somewhere far from his girlfriend.

RE: Boulder Huntin' - Korei Julia - March 27, 2018

Korei flinched at Alarian's words. Was he really fine? She wasn't too sure. But she also made no move to follow the other as he headed away from her. She just watched Ali from afar as he moved off. Then once he was gone, she slowly started back toward where she had left her rabbit. She would no doubt chew on it a little before putting it into the cache.
