the choir whispers - Vilkas - May 28, 2018

for @Outlander! sorry i didn't get this up yesterday. :-(

vilkas is careful to avoid the creek to the south after he realizes that the territory called emberwood by the locals ( but whose name eludes him ) is bordered by claimed pack territory. the woodland is filled with mainly towering aspen trees broken only by a few rugged coniferous trees that have mostly — he thinks as he sweeps his indifferent gaze over the one standing in his path — seemed to have seen better days. he shadows the northern perimeter of the emberwood not seeking to go too far towards the heart of the territory lest he has to. the firebrand is not afraid of conflict nor confrontation — quite the opposite as he is quite combatant and territorial by nature — but he understands that his predicament is tricky. raptorial nature demands one thing while his instincts of self-preservation warn him to avoid physical altercations as possible. he is lone and his medicinal knowledge is incredibly basic. he could not afford serious injuries thus he stays as far away from the borders of the pack claimed territory not wanting to take the risk of coming across an overly territorial wolf.

he diverts his path, flirting with the deeper confines of the woodland, giving a second pause on his exploration path to scratch at the bracken and debris littered floor to unearth the prey scents that tease him in abundance. he's almost surprised with a pack parked next door that the prey still frequent this woodland as much as the scents tell him that they do. it is enough to convince him to linger, potentially persuade him to find shelter in the northern perimeter for the night which draws nearer as late afternoon begins to morph into early evening.

RE: the choir whispers - Outlander - May 29, 2018

He had been meaning to leave this place. It had begun to bore him when everything started looking the same and when everything sounded the same. Outlander had never been one to fall under the crazy category but he was pretty sure he might lose his mind if he stayed here much longer.

That being said, he had no clue where he was going next.

His dull brain had mulled over ideas all day and by the time he had actually found it in him to leave the sun was prepping to set. Shit. He had waited a bit too long it seemed. A heavy huff escaped the large male as he weaved between the trees. The morning would be his time to go or even sometime in the middle of the night after he prepped a bit.

Granted it seemed he would hit a small bump in the road of his plans. The scent of another — not of the nearby pack either — tickled his senses. Outlander offered a low wuff in hopes he might lure the stranger out from wherever they were.

as far as territories that vilkas has explored thus far this one is fairly promising if for the prey aspect alone. the pack that claims the creek to it's southern border is the only true downside to it but he is confident that so long as he sticks north he likely won't be bothered. a lone wolf on the northern perimeter of a bordering neutral territory should not constitute harassment ...or so vilkas is ready to believe anyway. it's unlikely he would leave anyway, so out of sheer necessity and the acknowledgement of how he is he aims to keep a low profile for the coming night. he paces forward a few steps, debris of the woodland rustling under foot as he noses through another pile of debris, unearthing newer and fresher prey scents. he is not particularly hungry at the moment but he deigns to linger close as he begins to search for an adequate shelter for the night. something, preferably, that will not require a whole lot of work from him.

his plans change abruptly as his attention is called by a low wuff. the wispy hairs at the nape of the firebrand's nape bristle and his lip curls back from his teeth as he contemplates his options. the stranger that attempts to lure him obviously already knows he's there ...but vilkas is easily annoyed by the fact that he is meant to seek out the summoning stranger. he wasn't some kind of mutt to be called to heel and especially not by a stranger ...but it the consideration that the stranger may be one of the pack wolves ( for the wind is not in vilkas's favor ) and that if the stranger is from the pack it might be beneficial to assure that he's not going to stay longer than the night. he is never sure how territorial packs are going to be and thus must run with the assumption that they would be as territorial as he ( very territorial ).

vilkas does not smooth the bristle of his hackles as he shrugs through the thick underbrush, gaze sharpening as he sweeps it over the male that had presumably been the one to make the vocalization. he is large, beefy and a mixture of browns, blacks and creams. he is not, vilkas learns as he draws in the behemoth's scent, from the pack bordering the south of the emberwood and that serves to annoy the raptorial firebrand even more.

what do you want? vilkas' sharp posture inquires for him in lieu of him actually giving verbalization to the question, his eyes locking onto the stranger with expectancy.
