Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes. - Zodiac - June 12, 2018

Zig had spent most of the day walking the beach. Tonight, after somewhat of a climb, he found himself walking through soft grass instead of the sand he was accustomed to. The night was cool like the day had been, and the breeze from the ocean caressed his brown fur as he lazily walked across the plateau.

Eventually, he plopped down in the grass, rolled onto his back, and began moving his body from side to side, his legs flailing ridiculously in the air with each movement.

He then rolled over onto his side and let out a long sigh. He stayed like that for a while, watching as the wind moved through the grass and then over his form.

Having already deemed this area ideal for basking after a bit o' fishing, Fishhook had decided to call this plateau "home" until further notice. He'd lazed throughout much of the day and had had a large saltfish earlier to sate him, so his spirits were high and well-rested while his social feelers flexed outward for some much-needed company. He felt his luck change for the better a moment before he could recognize the scent of another wolf on the sea-faring breeze. The reedy male made a beeline for the source, coming across a rather strapping agouti with eyes that glinted smartly in the dark.

The tousled Fishhook approached casually, keeping his gait and posture as unassuming as possible while he whuffed for attention. "It's a good night, yeah?" he wedged in first, tossing the wolf an easy grin.

The scent of the unknown wolf hit him before his words did, and he quickly sat up looking in the direction of the scent and sound.

He grinned back at the male, always happy to meet new wolves. "That it is," he replied as he move into a sitting position. He had come upon this spot unsuspectingly and was glad for it. It offered a nice view of the ocean, and the breeze traveled just right through the grass. The only thing that would make it better would be some company, and it seemed he now had that, too. "I'm Zigzag, but you can call me Zig or Ziggy," he followed his introduction with a slow incline of his head.

Fishhook's luck continued: the stranger was friendly! A good night, indeed, he thought with a delighted flash of lime-green eyes. For the benefit of his companion, the fisherwolf imitated the male's posture and made a swift recline. He curled his oar of a tail against his thigh as the other introduced himself. Ziggy, how interesting. "Good to meet ya, Zig. Name's Fishhook— or any variation thereof." His smile had waned to a degree, his thoughtless expression defaulting to a lazy sort of half-smile; the ones that drunks get just staring off into the distance. He stopped eyeing the well-formed coastal wolf and instead turned his eyes out to sea. "D'you live around here?" he asked with an air of harmlessness: like the answer didn't really matter either way.

Zig nodded at the greeting offered by the similarly colored male named Fishhook. "I do," he answered. "I belong to a pack just east of here," he paired the words with a quick nod of his head in the direction of his territory. It was a new place of residence for him, but it already felt like home. He was pretty easy to please, though, so that wasn't necessarily saying much.

"What about you?" he asked curiously. He hadn't seen this wolf in his recent travels down the coast, nor could he match the male's scent to any of the many wolves he had scented in the area.
