a place where woman never smiled or wept - Relmyna - June 24, 2018

aw but @Astara & @Averna: rendezvous site move! from SPIDERLINGS GLEN to REDGROVE

with the addition of younger pups to the spiderling glen, relmyna felt it had grown cramped despite its larger size; astara with her lengthening strides and averna with her deepening curiosity. they had outgrown the densite and the patchwork wolfess knew it was time to move her daughters to another place. and so it came to pass that in the warmth of midmorning, relmyna departed for the last time the glen with her girls in tow.
it was to the lighter forest the trio traveled, and soon the dark weald gave way to the blood-red rustle of velveteen leaves underpaw. here the woman paused, glancing roundabout with a chuff that the two should stay close to her for the time being.
the lift of her muzzle to scent the air; the calm stillness the delta beheld; these things sated her wary mother's heart and presently she settled upon her haunches with a wan smile, to see what her cubs made of this new development.

The pale child was actually intrigued by the new pups, but when their caretaker had announced that they should move -- wordlessly, as always -- the child did not object. It was nice to see other parts of the forest, of the world, so the pale child gladly followed in the caretaker's footsteps as they made their way elsewhere. During the journey the ghost of a wolf seemed more upbeat than usually, with a playful sparkle dancing in her eyes. She wanted to see the world, all of it, and this was a good first step.

She growled playfully at the dark one as they moved, but her last offer of play was cut short as she saw the leaves under her feet turn from dark to more ruddy. The ghost turned her head upward and looked upon this new world in complete awe as all the colours were so different from before.

the children seemed pleased with where she had brought them; she swept the area with a gentle gaze and gave a soft chuff of approval before settling to pace the wide range of scents along the earth. at length, however, relmyna gave her closest attempt to a sharp bark; ears pinned back playfully and she fell into a playbow before her daughters, darting toward the nightcub before nudging her daychild; seeking to propel them both in play.

It didn't take much encouraging to shift the ghost into play mode. Even before the nudge the caretaker gave her she was ready to play. She let out an excited woof and called out a garbled "Geshaaa!" as she dashed on after the caretaker, while nipping the dark one's side in silent gesture of come on!

relmyna loped ahead, casting glances along her narrow shoulderblades to see how they followed. simply for the delight of stretching her legs, of engaging her children in play, the woman gave a short, sharp sound, one resonant with joy. many things she did not have, but her life, the air roundabout her, and two melonii girls — these were truths in a life that had been for too long half-lived.

Soon the ghost caught up with the caretaker and she nipped at her hocks before darting past her. The pale child looked over her shoulder and woofed, inviting the caretaker to come after her and try to catch her, if she thought she could. "Rawawarrr!" she chirruped happily as she shook her head and continued on running, dashing, and zigzagging.

the playful snarl of her daughter brought relmyna to bear; she coursed back and tried to match the trajectory of averna's spinning steps. the little ghost evaded her on nimble paws; the delta soon drew up, laughing, eyes lit with pure delight. a race? she tossed a challenging look to the pair of them, prancing in place and daring one of them to speed beyond her grasp.

A challenging look was all it took for the pale child to fully engage race mode. She woofed again and let out an excited high-pitched screech as the caretaker joined in the game. At full speed she dashed off, zig-zagging the trees scattered on her path and occasionally looking to see whether the caretaker and the dark one were nearby enough to be able to catch her, if they could.

last for me! <3

relmyna paused, laughing with her tongue lolling in a pant. delighted; delightful — the measure of a mother's joy shone in her seafoam gaze. and she was off again, her steps cayying her after averna at a distance, while in her throat she gave a yipping sound of purest amusement.

Wind blew in her face as she ran, determined to be the fastest. That was, until eventually she found another thing to be intrigued by instead: a toadstool that stood by the side of a tree. The ghost stopped and waited for the caretaker to show her whether this thing was positive or a threat, as always.
