haydays - Charon - June 26, 2018

Charon set out that day to entertain his youngest brood. He was glad and proud that his older children would join in on raising the pups and he was also happy some new wolves were arriving - so the caches could be stocked for winter - now that the pups were just out of their most fragile state. He hoped to run into @Ocellus and @Andalusia sooner or later, but it had not had much of his priority yet; they knew he was Alpha here, and so he would let them come to him, for his tasks were plenty enough to not need seeking out the newbs on his plate, too.

The third-time father had a rabbit dangling from his mouth as he made his way to the rendezvous site; once there, calling shortly for @Arcturus, @Yama & @Yami, and @Revui with a smile to his face and waited until they would make it there — or until anyone else found him, would they be interested to meet.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - June 30, 2018

✴        He was growing every day, and with the monumental growth of his body came the increasingly insurmountable appetite to accomodate the changes. It was rare for Revui to be asleep for long — it was more like he had a lust for life, and couldn't bare to be parted from the waking world for long — but these waking moments were filled with play (which grew increasingly more aggressive as his size increased), eating (which was always a messy affair), or some kind of stalking game he had created to pass the time when his siblings were tired of him. Stalking was not his forte; he was becoming too big to sneak, heralding a future greatness that might've rivaled his parents, but he tried none-the-less.

Today, he was up to his usual antics. The boy had rough-housed with Arcturus for the better part of the morning and when the two boys were finally separated, Revui had gone off to sulk. It didn't last too long, though, because he saw the approaching figure of his father and decided straight-away that he was the next best thing — until he saw what was swinging from Charon's teeth, and all thoughts of play vanished.

The leviathan in the making tried to duck and stealthily get closer and closer, following after the scent of fresh meat like a shark to blood; when he couldn't contain himself any longer, the boy bolted straight for Charon and snapped hungrily at the rabbit, apparently more pleased with the gift than the gift-bearer.

RE: haydays - Charon - July 02, 2018

It didn't take very long for Revui to find him. Charon smiled as the little Levi-lookalike came into view and as he started to snap at the rabbit. A playful growl rumbled in Charon's throat and he sprang to his feet and pirouetted away from his child. It was clear from his body language and the tone of his growls that the father was playing; an invitation for his child to join him and try to conquer him. To earn the food.

Charon turned away and started to trot away, expecting a Revui in close pursuit.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - July 02, 2018

✴        The boy had always been a glutton; he was quick to react to his father's playful rumbling with more snaps of his teeth, and was predictably keeping a close guard to the pale man's flank. He wasn't quick enough yet to keep up the majority of the time, but he wasn't going to give up easily either. The boy's large paws, long limbs, and disproportionate everything else, kept up rather well under the circumstances. Then again, Charon wasn't likely to put all of his effort in to this game of "keep away". Revui didn't know that, and went about chasing and snapping as if his life depended on it.

RE: haydays - Charon - July 11, 2018

It was of yet easy enough to keep things from the pups. Charon knew that this would change soon so for now he savoured being the winner and in control of these kind of 'fights'. After a little while of keeping the food away from Revui by running and tugging it out the way Charon allowed the boy to grab it by 'accidentally' letting it hang too much to Revui's side and prepared himself for a game of tug-o-war that would surely follow.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - July 13, 2018

✴        The older wolf slipped up a few times — or made Revui think he had, anyways. Time and again the prize would be pulled just out of his reach, and then when he finally latched upon it (instigating the tug-of-war) Revui was tricked in to feeling a flood of endorphins as he won, but it was temporary. The creature was now held by both of them; he just wanted to tear it to pieces and devour it, but his father's pulling prevented that. He let out a frustrated series of grunts and growls as he pulled and side-stepped, but it was a perpetual struggle.

RE: haydays - Charon - July 17, 2018

There was nothing wrong with Revui's instincts; he growled and pulled the prize as soon as he got a hold of the other end of it. Charon put on enough pressure to pose a challenge without outright pulling the food from Revui's mouth, knowing this type of play would help the children grow healthy and strong. Charon let out a playful growl himself to remind his son there was still a challenger on the other side of the food. For some time he tugged back until suddenly, Charon let go entirely of the prize to see how Revui would respond.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - July 19, 2018

✴        They tugged and side-stepped for a few minutes, but when Charon released the object of his fixation he went tumbling backwards. With some fleet footwork he didn't collapse or look too foolish, but there was another side-effect: As soon as Charon relented and appeared disinterested in the food, so was Revui. He had become so wrapped up in the adrenaline of the game, the physicality of it, that his usual gluttony had been forgotten. He'd won, but he didn't enjoy that he'd won. A moment later he grabbed the food and threw it at his father, watched it slump to the dirt, and glanced between the two a few times — as if to say, more?

RE: haydays - Charon - July 20, 2018

As Charon let go, Revui tumbled backwards. The father grinned as he watched the child try to collect his footing, which went surprisingly well for such a young child. Charon smiled proudly at Revui though he seemed to have lost all interest in the food. Wasn't he hungry? Charon canted his head as Revui showed no interest in the food, but when given a questioning glance he finally understood.

The father looked at his son with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. The rabbit lay somewhere between them. Then Charon dashed forward then suddenly, running towards the rabbit and intending to pick it up before Revui could reach it -- to re-ignite their game.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - July 26, 2018

✴        There was a moment where Revui wasn't sure if the game would continue, and so he began to let down his guard and relax, his tongue lolling out of his mouth and his attention drifting from his father and the rabbit - at least with his face and eyes. His ears remained pivoted to listen. And when Charon made his dash, the boy heard it and reacted as swiftly as he could; he wasn't as fast as the adults and his steps were sloppy, his own lunge missing the mark by a few inches, but he was snapping at the rabbit all the same. His tail helicoptered behind him in a silver blur.

RE: haydays - Charon - July 27, 2018

It was good to see Revui hone his senses so well. Immediately as his father set off towards the prize he came into motion too, determined to beat his father to it. At this point in time however, Charon was still faster than Revui and he managed to snatch the rabbit out from in front of his face -- just about. With a grin Charon turned away and watched as Revui followed him, teeth snapping and tail whirring excitedly.

Revui managed to grab the rabbit again and the tug-o-war continued, a playful growl rumbling in Charon's throat as he challenged Revui's instincts further.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - July 28, 2018

✴        Around and around they went again until Revui grappled with the rabbit and Charon had the opposite side; before long the tug of war resumed, but this time the boy had less gusto. He let out a few growls and jostled with some thrashing of his neck, but it wasn't as vigorous as before. Finally he let go and turned away, looking around at the surroundings as if the game had never happened, but his tongue lolled out and he idled with his ears turned with lazy interest in his father's wereabouts. It was clear to Revui he couldn't win — but more importantly, he'd begun to overheat and felt a natural inclination to stop.

RE: haydays - Charon - July 31, 2018

The game continued, as initiated by his son, and Charon happily played along another round. Revui eventually let go of the prize, seeming to suddenly grow tired and quit the game. Charon's ears perked forward to assess the situation. He trotted over to Revui and put the food down next to his son; perhaps now that the game had finished, it could serve as it was meant to be in the first place; as food.

RE: haydays - Revui (Ghost) - August 04, 2018

✴        The boy was persistently hungry, and on the rare occasions he was not, it was uncommon for him to give up a meal. Even on a full stomach he was known to gorge. As a result he was growing rapidly. The game had spent much of his energy; Revui's maw opened in a wide yawn and he looked away so that he wouldn't be misconstrued when his teeth snapped shut, but looked back at his father when the rabbit carcass was brought close. He need not be told twice—the boy's face split in a greedy grimace and then he launched himself at the rabbit, tail fanning behind his silvered body happily, and soon all that would be left of the toy would be a puddle of blood and hair.

RE: haydays - Charon - August 26, 2018

It seemed the game had indeed inspired hunger in his son. Charon watched as Revui ate for a few minutes before he nosed the boy behind the ear in quiet greeting farewell and started making his way to the borders for a quick patrol.
