Prepare for trouble, make it double - Maud - August 04, 2018

She decided to try something new today. Maud had never been on a mountain before, but they were somewhat intriguing. The other mountain she passed by was occupied by a large wolf pack, so she wanted none of that. This one was free, so why not do a bit of exploring? Maybe there was something to mountains she didn't get. She wondered what all could be found on one.

Slowly but surely, the feline trekked and climbed, following the old, winding paths stamped out from years of use. After what must've been hours of travel, something caught her eye out of her peripherals; she swore she saw a rainbow on a bush. That was odd. Turning to her left revealed the source: a cave full of glass-like crystals. There was a pool of water not far from the entrance, and it reflected the light onto the surrounding area.

While not one to get overly excited, Maud's interest had certainly been piqued. She stepped into the cave, which was like entering another world. Rainbows painted the walls, floor, water, and the surrounding quartz. There were more crystals than one could ever hope to count. It was honestly breathtaking, though the only indication of awe on the cougar's face was a slight widening of the eyes.

Having traveled for a while, she figured this was a fine place to rest. After taking a sip of the pristine water, the silver streak laid down behind a pool of water in the shade, curling her body lightly and resting her head on her paws. Magenta eyes closed, and rainbows danced inside her lids to follow her into her dreams.

RE: Prepare for trouble, make it double - Cahira - August 11, 2018

Super sorry for the wait!

Cahira had decided to leave the mountain range she had been spending most of her time in. She scented too many wolves around, and she had chosen to leave rather than get into a scuffle with more wolves. Not that she didn't think she was capable of taking on a few of the annoying canines, but it was such a hassle, and the last fight had left her with an infected wound, leaving her in the position to elicit help from a stranger. So, she didn't really feel like being in that situation again. Thanks, but no thanks.

She hadn't traveled too far before she found another promising mountain. After a little while of moving through the worn paths towards the the summit, a glint of light caught her eye; it was similar to the way light bounced off water. Deciding to investigate, she moved towards the place where she had seen the reflection--at the very least, she might find some water.

Although there was water in the cave that she eventually came to, it was clear that was not the source of the reflected light that had drawn her here. There were shiny rocks everywhere turning the light into rainbows. It created a striking picture inside the cave. She had little time to investigate, though, because as she came to the opening, she scented another of her kind. She halted her soft steps just outside the cave and released a soft rumble to announce her presence. she didn't encounter others like her often, and she could never be too sure how open they were to company.

No problem! ♥

The sound of something very much alive pulled her from her strange dreams. Maud was surprised to find one of her own kind at the entrance of her cave, but she wasn't too alarmed. If she meant harm, she wouldn't have alerted her of her presence. She lifted her head and greeted the other feline with a simple Hi. Her expression appeared unimpressed―especially after the flash of surprise and mild panic that was there before―but that was just Maud's default expression.

She rose to her feet and stretched out her spine, back bowing and tail curling above her while her jaws parted in a yawn to showcase fatally sharp, alabaster teeth and a hooked tongue. Once finished with the instinctual display, she asked, Weird place, huh? Her voice remained oddly monotone despite the genuine curiosity felt.

To her relief, the other cat seemed friendly. Cahira padded farther into the cave, dipping her head in greeting. Once fully inside, she sat down and took in the view, nodding at the other female's words. Yes. It's like nothing I've ever seen before, she answered before turning her keen gaze to the stranger. I am Cahira, she offered with another incline of her tawny head. She had no qualms sharing her name with another cougar like she had with the dogs.

She stood then and began investigating the cave, tentatively touching her nose to different things to take in their scent; sometimes, placing her large front paws on things to lift herself up and reach something that interested her. When she was satisfied with her examination of the area, she came back to sit in front of the other cougar and asked, Do you spend a lot of time here?
