don't say a word - Eilidh - April 16, 2015

Hello all! New player here for Eilidh. All welcome! :)

The rendezvous site was a place of fun, of wrestling, of adventure. Eilidh found herself spending a lot of time tumbling among the wildflowers, running between the rocks, and generally having too much fun to notice what might have been going on around her. Though she was adventurous, she was also very trusting, and would allow pretty much anyone to approach without much fuss. That didn't mean that her wailing couldn't be heard, or that she'd allow anyone to actually touch her. Oh no. That definitely wasn't allowed.

Though she was more often dirty than clean, Eilidh wouldn't allow anyone but Mother and Father to touch her. Occasionally her brothers would rub against her, and she'd scream like a banshee until she was free. It was a weird quirk, one that her siblings taunted her with almost daily. Eilidh was lounging beneath a tall bush, worrying at a stick she found in Casmir's corner, enjoying the warmth of spring. She liked taking things from him and Constantine when she had the chance.

It had been a while since he'd paid a visit to the Plateau's younger members, and though much had been happening, he wasn't about to allow himself off the hook for that.  He still was not moving well, so could not wander far, but the short trip to Blue and Lasher's home site was easily made.

When he arrived, he looked about, quickly spying the little golden girl beneath her bush.  Doddering his gimpy self over there, he sat down next to the bush, letting loose a wide yawn.  "Quite the hider, aren't you?"  He peeked at her, then at the stick she was chewing.  Not quite what he'd have chosen for lunch, but it was a cute sight to behold.

Eilidh heard him coming, though she kept it secret, chewing on her stick carefully. When he sat beside her bush, Eilidh promptly dropped the stick and barked at him jovially, hoping to scare him. With a smile, she bounded out from beneath the brambles and circled Dante, yipping happily all the while. "I dah bes' hider!" she proclaimed, shaking out her ruffled fur with a vigorous whole-body shake.

"What doin' Daaahn-tay?" she asked, plopping herself unceremoniously onto her bottom, mirroring Dante's down stance. She watched him, her blue-green gaze trained upon him, her head titled slightly to the left. "You 'kay?" Eilidh wrinkled her nose, realizing that he didn't feel well. What had happened to make him feel so bad? She watched him carefully, her mind bright and curious.

When she leapt out of hiding, he gave a startled look, jerking and immediately regretting the motion, but never losing his smile.  It was perhaps a bit overdone but to a pup, likely a pleasing reaction to a good setup.  "Never seen better!" he affirmed, nodding sagely, as though he'd been given an awful fright.

The extended vocalization of his name was seriously adorable, and endearingly he lowered his head so his nose was closer to her level.  She seemed to clue in to his off-ness rather quick, and one ear twitched back regretfully.  No high-spirited antics for him today, though that wasn't going to stop him from having some fun with her.  "I'm okay, though I'd be better if I'd been better at hiding I think.  Maybe you could teach me?"

RE: don't say a word - Eilidh - April 21, 2015

Eilidh beamed at his praise, thumping her tail happily behind her tiny haunches. Dante leaned down to be closer to her level and asked if she would help him learn to hide. She nodded, trying to look sagely like he did, but failed when her lips parted in a big grin. "I dah teacher." She stood and stepped backward, giving them some room in the classroom. She giggled softly, trying to hide her amusement with a duck of her head, and failed.

Shaking herself out and putting on a pretend air of adulthood, Eilidh began. "Firs', you gotta fin' a good spot. Not big an' not little. Then you wiggle into place and hold reeaaaaaal still." She demonstrated this by going back to her bush with a grin, and wiggled carefully back into her spot. She held real still, wondering if Dante could even see her. (The answer was yes, but there was no harm in humoring a little girl.) After a minute she came out of the shade and smiled. "Now you try."

She was eager to teach and the enthusiasm was catching.  Despite the fact that he thought himself awful with children, they were a balm to him most of the time when he was around them, and he was grateful for that. He watched as she hid herself, seemingly engrossed in the lesson and nodding. When she stilled, he glanced around as though he'd lost her, a smile twitching at his lips as he feigned surprise when she reappeared. "That was amazing! That doesn't seem too hard, let's see." He looked around, finally setting his eyes on a bush not far from hers, and not much bigger either.

Keeping up the air of mock seriousness, he walked over to the bush, turning to ease his haunches into it. Lying down, he stilled, managing to keep a straight face despite the fact that only his back half was concealed. "Like this?" He asked, his tail waving to brush tee branches behind him with a soft rustle.

She watched him wiggle beneath a bush, his head sticking out rather obviously. She giggled merrily at him, but nodded. "Thas close, Dan-tay. You a good hider!" She didn't want to point out that his butt was the only thing concealed. He would learn under her tutelage. Eilidh went to his side and poked him, wanting him to move further under the shade. "Get your head under. Then hol' reeaaaaaal still." She trotted back to her original place, keeping her eyes averted from him. "Ready?" she asked, giving him time to hide himself better before she looked.

RE: don't say a word - Dante RIP - May 09, 2015

This was sooo not going to work, but he wasn't about to say that. Suddenly he was regretting his choice in hiding spot, the branches prodding him rather uncomfortably as he shoved himself further beneath a bush that was much, much too small for his bulk. He was careful of his healing injuries, but still got a few good prods that left him stinging pretty well.

Still, good-naturedly, he attempted to oblige and with a little determination, he rolled up tightly, scooting beneath the branches and pulling his tail in tight. It was a near thing, and he wondered if it would be close enough for his new master's expert eye.

"Ready,"
he said before he remembered that he was, in fact, supposed to be keeping still and quiet. He then shut both eyes, opening one slightly after a moment to peek at her and awaiting her adorable, inevitable commentary on his improvement.

RE: don't say a word - Eilidh - May 19, 2015

Eilidh waited to hear the keyword, keeping here eyes shut tight against any peeking. She wasn't going to cheat. When he was ready, Eilidh turned around and searched for him. At first he wasn't visible, since her eyes had to adjust to the bright sunlight and dark shadows beneath the trees. But after a moment she could see him, a large wolf hiding beneath a small bush. She giggled, but played as if she couldn't see him.

"Oh, you a perfect hider, Dahntay!" She stepped forward a few paces, sniffing and pretending not to see him. She moved across the little glen, poking her nose under bushes and tree limbs, parting ferns and finally making her way to his hiding spot. She made a show of tumbling into him and giggled, pouncing on his tail. "Found you!"

RE: don't say a word - Dante RIP - May 26, 2015

He bit down a chuckle as she made an attempt to play at looking for him in his obvious place, the fact that she was humoring him tickled him greatly. Obviously she didn't want to hurt his hiding confidence... Already showing teacher promise. He tracked her as she went, hoping she wouldn't go too far... And of course she didn't. It wasn't really that long before she gave up the game.

"Oh no!" He exclaimed in mock surprise as she pounced, lightly scrabbling his front paws amongst the bush branches in a feigned attempt to escape. "I've been had!" There was no way he was getting out any way but the one he came in, that much he knew, but that path was a little blocked right now by a very adorable hazard.

RE: don't say a word - Eilidh - June 10, 2015

Eilidh laughed as he played along, feigning surprise. "I only kiddin'!" She tumbled out of the way and stood shaking the leaves and grass from her fur. Dante had played along with her just as much as she had with him, and she liked it. Dante was a good leader and she was glad he had visited her today. "Thanks for playin' wit me." She smiled up at him, moving out of the way so he could extricate himself from the bush. He'd have leaves all in his fur, too!

RE: don't say a word - Dante RIP - June 14, 2015

Fade this one out?  We can always start a more updated :D

He laughed when she tumbled away after making sure that she let him know, in that way children do, that she was only kidding.  As though it made perfect sense he wouldn't know that.  She was adorable, though, the way she thanked him, and he pulled himself out after her, leaves and sticks extruding from his own pelt in all sorts of angles.  "No problem, us leaf-monsters have to stick together. " Get it?  Stick together.  Killing it.

"What do you say to going and giving your mom a good scare?  Monster-style?"  Blue Willow would love that.  Sure.

RE: don't say a word - Eilidh - June 15, 2015

Absolutely! <3

"No problem, us leaf-monsters have to stick together." Eilidh laughed softly, her giggles resonating in the small glen. They were leaf monsters, weren't they? Twigs and bits of leaves were stuck in Dante's fur, and she was sure she looked much the same. Then he offered up an idea that made her giggle even more, and nod in acceptance. "Yeah, les go scare 'er!" Eilidh wiggled as she bounced, a veritable ball of puppy energy. Ohhh Momma wouldn't like it, but this was gonna be fun!

RE: don't say a word - Dante RIP - June 22, 2015

He prepared his best leaf-monster growl and then grinned, leading the way. He wouldn't do much to scare the gentle healer, but he was sure the mother would find her daughter's fun in the mischief of it as endearing as Dante did. He was thrilled with the bonding time he was able to share with the children and would treasure this time, unsure of how long such games could last.
