They spent days searching for them, looking for hide or hair, any trace of scent that would lead them toward their beloved mother, sister, alpha, and her two children. Kaskara had no idea where they might have gone. Finally, as if the heavens smiled down on them, Kas caught scent of Bazi and Swift, a smear of blood upon the rocks, and they were off. Racing through territories, stopping only long enough to find the trail again, hackles raised at the scent of bear that followed - or led - the wolves they sought.

It seemed like years later that Kas heard the first sounds of fighting. She paused her group, looking at each in turn, her heart thumping wildly in her chest. That was definitely Bazi out there, but who was she fighting? After a pause to catch their breath, Kaskara led them out of the shadows, and saw the nightmare unfold before them. Bazi, bloody and bruised and fighting for her life, pitted herself against a bear. Panic threatened to overwhelm her, but she forced calm. With one last look at her companions, Kaskara surged forward, teeth flashing and nails swinging as she raced toward her sister.
