Sunbeam Lair A Stranger to These Lands

In the evening day sun, the soft sound of paw pads on foliage was audible as it crunched under each step.  A loud gurgling sound arose followed immediately by a deep long sigh. He was Hungary again, but that was nothing new, he was always hungry. Thinking back on it his last meal was several days ago now, though he didn’t really consider the fish and berries he had found to be a meal in the first place.
 
Again sighing he lowered his head and continued walking. Then a flash across his peripheral vision startled him, turning his head in the direction he spotted it a second time. A smile made its way across his face, and his tong dipped out if the corner of his mouth. In a flash he jolted forward eyes locked on the rabbet, who appropriately mimicked his last motion accept in the opposite direction.  
 
The chase was on, blinded by the possibility of a meal he charged off as fast as he could completely missing the distinct scent that marked the border of a packs territory. He watched as the hare ducked and weaved agilely around the trees and brush, and he planned his route accordantly. The space between them was progressively closing in; he tensed his mussels ready to strike for the kill when the rabbit abruptly bounded off at an angle and around a thick trunked tree. In an attempt to follow he turn as well but the second he rounded the tree his hart dropped. He tried to back pedal but tripped on a tree root sticking out of the ground. Uncontrollably he rolled head over tail several feet down a muddy bank, finally stopping face first in a slow moving creak.
