Katya preferred to lead hunts, unless they were after large prey, but the pack wolf had a better grasp of the territory and habits of the animals in his domain. Still, survival is an art she considered herself to be damn good at, and hunting is strategy for the most basic of needs. Any animal could kill, but a sharp mind is just as important as sharp teeth when your life hung on the line.

She followed Grayday at an easy pace. Their combined strides made a strange rhythm on the grass; his steps in two-four time and hers three-four time. One went faster than the other, but they still covered the same amount of ground.
