She wolf shuddering only emphasised Astor's correct statement and the wolf confirmation. But her words made it sound as though this wasn't an often occurance. Unlike alot of the other wolves she had run into, this wolf sounded like she was in a pack. Or at least in a group willing to help provider her with warmth, and, Astor assumed, food. 

But the conversation turned to birds, and indirectly to her. She felt a bit insulted to have been grouped together with such weak and sensitive birds. But it was a common misconception to believe that all birds migrated during the winter. "I stay here all year round. I don't see the need to go south when I can get food here regardless. It's not like the rabbits go south." she commented. Other birds might go south because of the lack of food during the cold months, but for Astor, being the raptor that she was, she could hunt her food which was well suited for winter just as she was.
