It was wise of him to be skeptical. They were a shady bunch, and the sordid nature of their work made it impossible for even Black Hat to make it seem free of strings. And it wasn't, but only if the client tried to pull something against them or wasn't able to pony up, so it'd be their fault for being fools. He nodded. Yes. Other than the perk of contracting us, an alliance is otherwise quite standard.

Sometimes, that was all it took to soil a potential alliance. They got lucky this time; not that Black Hat had much to lose except a sliver of pride.
