If they remained friends forevermore, Peregrine would still be happy with the leadership set. If they hooked up eventually, that would be cool too. Really, either situation had its pros and cons and, well, he wasn't going to dwell on it much at this time.

Peregrine's right ear twitched and swiveled almost completely backward when he heard a sneeze from the den. His eyes widened slightly.
