Reek's attempt to be delicate with Sesi only resulted in further confustion when she interpreted gone to be the literal definition and not the figurative meaning that Reek tried to imply.  Reek bit his lip in apprehensive silence, but Desna soon relieved him of the duty to speak.  While Reek had no idea she had been missing from the territory, he knew now from Desna's frustrated tirade.  The timing of Sesi's return would be punishment enough, he felt it unneccisary to persue any further action. Nor was Reek in the proper emotional state to do anything of the sort.

By the time Desna had finished, the third and final child of the maplewood arrived to grieve.
