Members on Wolf are encouraged to create adoptables for other members to play in order to build character relationships and further plots.  Just keep in mind that once a character is adopted, it is no longer yours.  As soon as the other member makes a single post with the character, it cannot be reclaimed unless the member who now owns it submits the request.  This applies to both adult NPCs and puppies.

In addition, any puppy or adoptable account needs to be submitted for approval by the member who will be playing them, not the member who may have created the account.  This ensures the approval process is not bypassed.

However, if a puppy does not have a player at the time of birth, they will need to be added to the pack ranks as an NPC and can be submitted by the parents.  See our NPC guidelines for more details.

Breeding Season

Wolf has a set breeding season that operates within the following timeline.  Please note that you may not forward or back-date threads to bypass these dates.
  • Conception may occur January 1st through June 30th
  • Puppies may be born March 1st* through August 31st.
  • Puppies are viable at 56—70 days gestation.
*February 29 is permissible during Leap Years.

During the season, as long as characters meet the minimum age requirements, they may breed freely.  Keep in mind that players may be in short supply and plan accordingly!  PMs are also welcome to enforce consequences against characters who breed without permission (such as removing them from the pack).

The following are the only OOC requirements/restrictions:
  • There must be a conception thread between the two parents!  This sets the timeline and ensures both players are aware of what is happening.  The thread should use the “Conception” post icon and be marked as mature if necessary.  It cannot contain explicit content but does need to clearly state that conception occurred to count.  (This can be easily done via a “fade to black”).
  • Gestational wolves can only have 1 litter per calendar year and each litter may only contain 4 surviving pups.
  • If a character falls inactive, becomes an NPC, or chooses to leave the game while pregnant, the pregnancy is no longer valid and any resulting pups need to be born out of game in order to survive. This means that the resulting pups will not be able to enter the game until they are 1 year old.
    • If, for any reason, you know that this is not possible, reach out to the CM team before you go inactive.  Life happens!

Puppy Adoption

After the conception thread has been archived, puppies may be posted for adoption within this thread.  There is no formal process on Wolf, but the following are generally courteous things to keep in mind:
  • When you receive an application, acknowledge it.
  • Refrain from requesting more applications if you have already received some.
  • Send final PMs to all applicants, the ones who you chose and the ones you did not.

Parents are welcome to include their own preferences around activity and account return within their applications, but keep in mind the CMs will not help to enforce these guidelines if the adopting member chooses not to honor them.  Our terms around account reclaim override any member adoption agreements.

Puppy accounts should be activated on their birthday. When you submit a puppy account for approval, be sure you have the parents clearly denoted somewhere on their profile. In the Prompts field, please include links to: a) an approved account, b) a conception thread and c) a birth thread. If a puppy's player has parental permission to start their own birth thread, we can expedite activation as long as you drop us a line beforehand.
