He did not wish to be separated from her. Thus far, this ridge that they had found themselves stranded upon was the only place not rank with the scent of pack wolves. Theirs were the only heavy scents upon the stones here. Desiring rest for the time being, Tryphon slunk back, forcing her to slow her pace, and then stopped abruptly near the edge of the ridge. He could see down in to the dark which extended in to the plains, but there was little detail.

Perhaps it was time to leave this mountain.
