She urged him on, increasing her speed as she sought to get away from him, Seff, the mighty hunter! Didn't she know that he was fast, very much so, and could easily run down the fastest of wolves? And so he ran, the pup, legs churning at a greater speed than he had ever accomplished, worm of a tail sticking straight out behind him, stiff as an oak branch. 

His ears too, he splayed flat against his skull, focused solely on the run and his mother, and not entirely on the earth beneath his paws. It came as no surprise, then, that he suddenly spun head over heels, legs flailing every which way and he stumbled to a stop. 

At first, his face was cast in a cloud of uncertainty, a sob not far, but when the pup realized that he was not missing any limbs and that he was not particularly sore, he leapt back to his feet and after a moment barreled toward his mother, joyous.
