Eden smiled at her active youngsters, but she was secretly discouraged seeing Sorrel bound over to her father. Though the mother knew that he had just as much a right to the pups as she, they were hers before they were anyone else's and she didn't like that barrier being bent. Still, Eden walked over to her mate and nuzzled him gently, leaving a soft lick behind his ear. I don't like them being in the cold like this, she whispered to her mate, her paw softly kneading at Sorrel's fur.

It was too cold outside for them, Eden was sure. They were still too young to be in temperatures this low, but she didn't want to pull them from the experience. After all, she had been the one to bring the royal pups outside when they were no older than her own brood was then, but it was different now that they were hers. It was personal. Still, she awaited her mate's opinion.
