Thuringwethil watches the other wolf that seems to match her in size, but age shows in his face. Nonetheless, she knows her limitations going in and she tries not to make show of them as she smoothly comes to a stop, hiding the grimace that wants to form on her face. The male stands to greet her and her head lifts to its position of power, squaring over her shoulders, but her tail remains level with her body rather than its usual arch above her spine. He may appear friendly but she knows that doesn’t mean much of anything, especially a wolf close enough to her home.

He calls to her and she dips her head once to acknowledge. Her slate eyes scan nearby and her nose fights through the salty air for a companion on the wind to him but she comes up just as emptyhanded as before. “Hello,” she responds after a moment, resettling her dark gaze upon his carved features. There is something familiar about him that she can’t put her paw on and she lets it linger in the back of her mind for an easy reach should something pop up to spark. She has been in the Teekon long enough that her memories of the north (mostly prior to her ascension day) are fewer and farther between.

all that wanting, all that aching, all that capacity for love:
it never belonged to you in the first place
