All Welcome
I haven't written anything in, like, a year so my posts are gonna be wonky. Sorry about that!
The solemn sound of a rivulet drew her in yet it was the display of a shattered stone that gave her pause. Two halves of a whole leaning against one another, touching at the tip. The formation itself seemed sturdy but the wolf was not going to test it, even as she sighted the small passage just beneath the hefty rocks. The darkness - what little was visible - seemed to beckon. No doubt there was something there to discover. Most dismal places held some sort of reserve. But the rogue wasn't looking for material things. No. Jökull was more concerned with where she was and what she had to do in order to get her next meal.

Being a rogue in general plain out sucked. This life, there was no pretty way of describing it. She began well enough, though that was probably because she was closer to home. The Enlysylik was something to fall back on should she ever run into trouble. True to form, she never did.

And as each day passed after the next, the further she traveled from the Enlysylik until there was no return. And her first impression of standardized pack life? Not good. Being in a pack saddled her with more convoluted anxieties than the life of a loner did. Jökull simply wanted fellowship whereas they wanted her cowed. There was definitely some disconnect there. She blamed her brutish brethren.

But as time grew immeasurably onward, so too did her knowledge of pack life outside of Enlysylik. Evidently being subservient was a good thing; it appeased the "higher ups." Beyond that, Jökull was clueless. It all seemed uselessly complicated. But still...if she couldn't do it on her own anymore, she might have no choice but to assimilate. To her horror, she did not find that as appalling as she did a mere month ago. Being full and fed was better than being hungry and dying.

Once coming upon the creek, Jökull rushed into the waters in childish merriment. The coolness seeped into her weary paws and she downed as much water as quickly as possible.
