"Oh, right," he said nonchalantly, keeping himself from thinking too negatively about the encounter; Dirge probably just didn't have his day, or the subject was too sensitive. Instead Nikai was silent for a while as he tried to think of what else he could talk about. The first question that popped up was 'have you seen much of the world', but considering the dodges on the previous attempts Nikai thought it might still be hitting home a little too closely, that one. It was hard to find questions that had nothing to do with Dirge's personal situation, though, since Nikai knew nothing about him yet. "Have you been in this general area long?" Nikai asked after a lengthy silence, hoping that this one was acceptable because it was a bit more abstract.
