Despite his plea, the wolf did not stop. Leo's steps backwards became smaller and smaller until he came to a complete stop. His body refused to take another step and he felt helpless.
Ears folded back when red liquid bubbled from the stranger yet again. From the depths of fear trickled curiosity. His mind raced with questions as to why the monster had yet to utter a word. Gray eyes gazed at the wicked grin and the blood that surounded it. Leo quickly came to the conclusion that his injury had possibly stripped his voice away. But there was no way of knowing for sure for now.
In an instant, the two were face to face. A few moments of silence passed, which gave the ghost time to collect himself. Leo took a deep, shaky breath and desperately thought of ways to buy himself time.
"You... c-can't speak," he stammered, almost bluntly. He couldn't help but take a quick look back at the bloody maw. "Why? W-where you attacked?" The words flowed quickly, as if that alone would save his life.
He assumed the wolf would nod yes or no, or just show him why he couldn't. The boy was so wrapped up in fear, he had yet to see the missing tongue.
