All Welcome
Of late, Burr had taken an interest in the earth. It happened suddenly one day, when he was killing time around the Stone Circle's namesake and noticed what seemed like a glimmering spot of russet rock in one of the natural pillars. It was a vein of copper, unbeknownst to the unschooled boy, who had taken a great interest in its sharp metallic smell and its appearance. Ever since then, Burr had been on the hunt for the stuff, particularly a piece of it that wasn't buried in stone so he could give it to Cyron as a gift when he returned.

His parents had been gone for some time now, but Burr hardly noticed. He was getting older, stronger, and much larger. He was nearly as big as some of the adults now. Rowana was larger than him, a fact she frequently gave him a hard time about, but Burr was developing a deep chest and his winter coat made him look considerably larger than he was. He was destined to be much like Mawk, only a little more wolfish. He couldn't have been happier about that.

Today his search took him to the edge of a pond around which several medium-sized rocks were clustered. As Burr padded along the shore, which was beginning to freeze at its edges and made conspicuous snapping sounds whenever he placed a paw upon it, he contemplated the change in weather. The sky was frequently overcast and the air was much colder than he had ever known it before. He tilted his head back to peer at the sky, wondered for a moment what it all meant, then dropped his snout to investigate the next rock that he came across. After sniffing around it for several moments, he decided with a huff that there was none of the glittery red rock within. He circled it one more time for good measure, then hoisted a leg to piss conclusively on it, sighing satisfactorily as a faint steam rose from the frosted ground.
