Samothes seemed like a nice enough person, and Mink was overjoyed to have a place to call home once again - it wasn't fully established, but that lent a sense of wonder to everything too. He had never been a part of something so new before. The boy's former home occupied a vast piece of island territory and it had been under his family's control for so many generations... Before grandmother, before perhaps even her own grandmother. The forest itself was familiar in the way each forest was alike the next: everything was dark but not too dark, there was moss growing on every inch of everything, and they were close enough to the sea that sometimes if you tried really hard, you could smell the sea.

Mink was in love. He did not want to overstep his boundaries or anything, but the urge to explore the entirety of the forest was too strong to pass up; his path led him far from where he'd met Samothes and through groves of densely wooded, dark forest. The boy ducked his head to inspect piles of leaves, sniff at moss, grab a stick and toss it - little things, but each precious. He came upon a massive old stump (the remains of which were scattered all about and covered in thick green), and he gracelessly scrambled atop it, then began to survey the forest again, wearing a grin and feeling quite at home already.
