Somehow, in an attempt to keep attention off her, she has managed to do the exact opposite. Again. Part of her knew this would happen, she’s been here before and she knows how these wolves work, even if it’s been a long time since she’s really been around them. Long enough that they don’t remember her, but instead see a wolf on death’s door. If, or when, she returns to her health, it’ll be much more obvious.

Ezekiel retreats, deciding he will hunt more for her and makes it clear that it’s for her and not Wardruna. She’d curse herself if she didn’t feel the heave of her stomach, forcing to turn away from his retreating form and stand awkwardly to the other side of the den. When she can no longer hear the crunch of heavy footsteps, she eases herself and allows her stomach to expel the mouse she’d eaten a moment ago.

do you want to break me like you were fourteen
and someone dared you to break the law?
