Lacking a voice had never once been a game for Amoxtli. The wolfdog had always dreamed of the ability to sing to his sister, and to watch her eyes sparkle in the lilting of his voice. It had offered a great many barrier in his life when compared to those born of silver tongue, but he had made the most of the silence. He had even found a sort of comfort in it. So, when he greeted her without words and with only the flagging of his tail, it was the most that he was capable of.

The woman remarked on his enjoyment of the water and he nodded his head softly, darting a fiery orange gaze between her figure and the lapping waters of the ocean. The small whisper that she uttered after did not fall on deaf ears. His swiveled to meet the sound of her voice and he felt a pang in his heart. Oxtli canted his head just to the left and he looked at her with burning intensity. With a whispered whine from the back of his strangled throat, he begged to know why she would feel this way. Though it might have been too much for some, the hybrid hound was a sweet fellow and his heart urged him to scoot toward her. With ears flattened to his head, the boy moved to nuzzle the side of her neck. It was an act of support – of concern – but he had no way to pry, so he would let it go if she opted to remain quiet.
