Kavik shrugged at her comment. He did blame himself. He had been pushy, and he regretted it. But there was nothing he could do about it now except not make the same mistake in the future. 

When she mentioned that they should head back, he nodded and picked up the rabbit that had lied forgotten during the events that had just unfolded. He wasn't sure he was even hungry anymore, but he wasn't going to waste a perfectly good kill. He gave her a small smile that probably looked a little awkward with his mouth full and turned to start trotting in the direction of their territory.
