It wasn't hard to find the source of the wolf smell, but breaking in was harder. The brothers had paced around the outside at the southern edge, noting the high walls all around. Both he and Euron were daring enough to try stunts other wolves would shy from, but neither of them was bold enough to try to scale slopes that steep. Frustration laced Ramsay's steps as they headed west, deviating away from the cliffs as they tried to think of the best way to infiltrate a natural fortress.

Perhaps it wasn't worth it. The logical voice in his head suggested this. "Another place?" the dwarf rumbled to his brother, curious for Euron's take. He thought the effort might be too great but he appreciated a challenge, too, and wasn't sold on searching for another group to bedevil. There was a perfectly good one here, but was it worth the greater risk?

Whatever Euron decided would need to wait. Ramsay had seen someone, and his short ears scooped forward with interest as he watched the she-wolf cast her nose into the wind. He hadn't noticed before when it changed directions, but froze suddenly when a gust swept past his bladed nape and carried toward the woman in the meadow. His dark eyes lingered on her fiery figure while the muscles in his shoulders and back tensed, prepared for a poor reaction to their presence, and all the while he was struck with the niggling feeling that he had seen her before. That memory was just out of reach.
