They had bid her in a general direction, and Andalusia had followed their prompts and then some. Over rocky mountains and loamy shores, walking and wandering for what felt to be ages, finding traces of millions but none of the woman for whom she searched. It seemed today fate had the same end in mind. A heavy fog clung to the forest surrounding her, and nothing but a moist chill met her scanning nostrils when she breathed in the sharp morning air. She would find nothing in these woods, and the Ostrega had begun to accept the reality she would find nothing of Chehlia elsewhere, either.

Andalusia tread lightly atop the frosted ground, picking her way through the visible trees and paying heed to those still concealed behind the disconcerting mist. The forest had merely been dark when she'd entered it the evening before, and the fog that had rolled in overnight posed an inconvenience to her day of travel. Thoughts of what might dwell in these woods did little to frighten her, but the Ostrega knew she could not afford to act in haste. She had found her way into this forest, and she was confident she would somehow find her way out.
