The skies spoke of an afternoon storm. Between the wind, the current cloud cover, and the building humidity, he was almost certain this evening would be filled with a thunderstorm. He could feel it. The electricity on the air almost promised it. For now? For now they could move about their business without suffering any lasting effects of the later storm.

He'd completed a patrol and was turning back towards the heart of the Spine. Paws carried him through ancient forests that seemed to creak as their bows rattled within the strong winds. He turned his gaze skywards before lowering them as he passed through the towering trunks and made his way towards the cavern entrance at the other side of the lake. Tonravik had laid claim to those caves and was keeping closer to them. He'd drop by, see how she was doing, then resume tending to the responsibilities she had in addition to his own.

The lake appeared in the distance. He neared it, paused for a quick drink, and then continued to walk around its shore. Not too much further and he saw one of the new wolves lingering with his toes in the water. Iqniq moved closer, chuffing a greeting as he joined him and turned his gaze towards the island in the distance. "It won't get any closer by staring at it," he mused. "The swim's not bad. That island makes for a nice retreat." Whether or not the wolf wanted to risk it in this weather was up to him, but it was definitely a place worth visiting.
