Back dated before the fox hunt. @Tonravik
It had been oblivious and now it was dead. Tatsuya cut off it's air with a jumbo paw. It died slowly. An inhumane expiration but not without reason. It's buxom body would serve him well; a gift for their bearish queen. Looking down upon the hare's flaccid body, he grunted approvingly. It was most likely the biggest hare he has ever seen. Judging by the size of the pellets it left behind, Tatsuya became all the more determined to track it down and slay it. Funnily enough, the creature had put up a bit of a fight having socked him in the face with a stray leg. The power behind that kick gave him even more incentive to kill it and present it to Tonravik.
INDENTHe tried to pick it up by the midriff but it was too fat even for his jowls. He tried to carry by the ears but only managed to trip on it and tear off its ears. Damn it. This is exactly what he did not want to do: bloody Tonravik's gift. Too late now, he thought bitterly. Moving the hare so it laid on it's front, Tatsuya genteelly picked it up by the scruff. The skin there did not tear but he had to walk woodenly along Takiyok River. Ugh. Even in death you are a nuisance. It took a while to reach Tonravik who was further up the river, either patrolling, drinking, lazing about or taking a piss. Maybe all of the above.
INDENTShould Tonravik spot him first, she would likely think he was bringing her a young polar bear.

Iqniq, Kapvik, Nanuk, Arverk, Echelon, and truth be told, the lot of them, kept her fed. Her cubs were positioned in her so she could surely hunt herself now, knowing she jeapordised nothing. But she took the gifts and the food she was given. There was no reason not to, what with her perpetual hunger. The dark leader sniffed loudly at the air and could smell blood... and even if it was not for her, Tonravik would make it so, because she hungered again. The alpha female would bully whoever it was into handing it over.

She moved in a trot, the pace brisk and efficient. It was Kapvik with an abnormal looking thing, but that thing bled. The leader picked up the pace, bristling; her tail was lifted and her demand was made as she eyed the long-eared creature he brought to her.

As foreseen, the black bear advanced, omnipotent and domineering. Tatsuya's ears went back, facial expression twisting into one of anger, tail inadequately tucking, nape bristling just as fiercely as her own. The plan had been to give the hare to Tonravik but seeing as she was being a ruffian, he now had some reservations. It was discernible a part of him wanted to submit to her while another wanted to disobey her brutish demands simply out of spite. She would be reminded that he did not submit without tests, nor would he always comply to her demands. I am not a wolf to be led without dispute.
INDENTTatsuya was not without a heart, a mind. He was an being full of sentiment, of effectual concerns and opinions. He saw – felt – many things she did not. This did not make either of them any less a wolf than the other, but in the weeks to come, his sentiments may very well change...or he may come to accept a part of himself that's been hidden away for a extended period of time. Only time would reveal whether or not he was fit to live here among the draconian Tonravik and her evenly bestial kin.

Tonravik marched toward him, and as he came for her in turn she let out a guttural snarl. If she could help it, this dispute would end promptly; she would beat him, and eat his food, and then snap at him some more due to his falling out of line. Her temper was short, and he had caused it to flare in seconds. There was no emotion involved in this; take the feeling out, and one would find logic and necessity.

She charged into him, chest first. Her fangs sought to grip the side of his throat and, should this be successful, she would move to rip his foreleg beneath him, so she could (attempt to) shove him down. Tonravik was not gentle in this; her dominance displays would grow quite rough due to what he threatened. Of course, no blood would be drawn in the process (unless he bit his tongue if he did fall... but that was the price he would pay for coming between her and any source of food), but her dominance displays never were done to coddle. Simply to remind.

Her tail lifted over her hindquarters all the while, ears flat atop her skull despite the initial forward-thrust that promised her aggression should he not relent. These things were never personal. This was strictly business, and Tonravik was one ruthless boss.

Wolves did not live in the past. Tatsuya has blithely moved on from when Tonravik bullied him back at Big Salmon Lake. But in addition to that, she did something to counterbalance any remaining bitterness towards her: she saved his life. And this? He saw this more of a reminder that he was not dismayed to refuse, no matter how expectant and consequently hungry she may be. The Zeta did not view this as anything personal. Gladly, too. Emotions would only succeed in slowing him down and he certainly did not want that.
INDENTFor all his ostentation, Tatsuya did not engage the angry vacuum. Instead, he scuffled away, letting his present fall from his teeth, unprotected. There. You got what you wanted. Guardedly he stood now, head even with spine, ears pinned, tail whipping behind him. It was the closest she was going to get to subservience right now, frustrated by her claim. Should she choose to teach him a lesson after she was done, he would meet her challenge in a frenzy of teeth, claws, and fervor.

When he dropped the animal, relinquishing it to her, the alpha females demeanor changed entirely. Her tail waved in loose, pleasant arcs, and the furs that stood on edge like small waves before the tsunami melted back into their sea of black, as though there had been no disturbance there at all. She approached the meal and dug ravenously into it, tearing it apart and eating near everything. Only the unimportant remained; its intestines that carried its herbivorous diet were useless to her.

Once done, she lifted her bloodied muzzle toward Kapvik and an appreciative growl was given. She lapped at her bloodied chops, left ear flicking absently as a fly buzzed past it, already moving toward the corpse still warm from the life it once lived. Her dark eyes remained upon him, and the pregnant leader shifted her weight.

Okay so I tried to incorporate this into my post but I don't know if I did it very well.
Damn it I PP'ed. :/ SIGH. Tell me if this isn't okay.
So promptly did her mood change. Tatsuya was not even resentful over the hare anymore, animosity ebbing to complacency. A grumble of appreciation sounded from her – something he had demanded before eating his gift. Alright. I can live with this. It was amusing (and kinda frustrating) to see her get so riled up over a meal. Was she always like this or was it because she was pregnant? A devious, sportive spark shone in his sunburst eyes, tail languidly waving behind him. Tatsuya was eager to meet the Tonravik that did not have babes forming within her. If only because it might give insight to what went on in that noggin of hers.
INDENTClosing the distance between them, he trickily brought his neck astride her own, auds pinned and appendage submissive...before resting his chin firmly between her shoulder blades with an ominous rumble, ears pricked and tail indifferent. A flagrant jab at dominance. One Tonravik would not let go undisputed. The Zeta has not sparred with his Alpha and he thought it was long overdue. Rather than taking the worn and beaten path of just asking her, he took the route that would assuredly piss her off.

its ok i pp by this lil shove back just not in if he was forced backward by it yada yada

As he approached, Tonravik remained lax. He was diminutive in it, up until the last.

Her own ears perked as she heard his rumble, and she wasted no time. The alpha female snarled and moved to shove against her agitator, her plume stiff behind her and her own ears thrust aggressively forward. The alpha female did not see this as play, or a spar, but as much a challenge as any... and she answered to it in first shoving against him, back off. Her own snarl was menacing, lips peeling back to reveal the row of fangs she had used time and time again against many, though few times upon any of her own.

The alpha female swung her hind away to move backward, jaw parting only just to protect the throat, the sound she emitted one that foretold of an unpropitious end to this. If he submitted, it could be avoided, but the alpha female waited for his next move, tail high and furs bristling. She stood there, anchored, and as still as death, the low snarl growing louder in pitch and volume both.

Okay, so maybe he went about this the wrong way. Having contended with the likes of Kroc, Arverk and Echelon, he felt like a spar would involve rank no matter what. At one point in each battle, it came up. It made the wolverine question why these wolves were so peckish when it came to status. The life they led, it contrasted against everything he has ever known. He grew up with no Alpha, no superiors to dangle their power (however well-earned) over his head like an ambrosial rabbit haunch. Tatsuya grew aware of these strict systems but he has never partaken in them.
INDENTIn his opinion, there was nothing to get huffy about. Leadership was a number of things, many of which involved those beneath you. To usurp Tonravik would probably disband the pack, anyway; he was a neophyte and has not earned the trust of his pack mates. Having him at the helm would weaken them. In time, he would prove himself. To lead or be led. To Tonravik, to her subordinates. For better or for worse.
INDENTDid...did the she-bear actually feel threatened by him? What good was he? He has done nothing to earn the reliance of her underlings, and yet she felt threatened by him...? Perhaps the lack of certainty between Tonravik and Tatsuya was what set her off. That hurts. Why does that hurt? Indeed. She saved him from a watery grave, from starvation, from the elements, and she did not trust him as he did her. Hm. Yep. That definitely hurts. Tatsuya would get over it. Probably.
INDENTStaring at her paws, he grew quiet and contemplative, posture lenient. Whereas Tonravik was brawn, he was mostly brains. Excessively so, ruminating on this strange, new structure he must learn and navigate. Along with it's instinctual leader.

lil fade?!
These skirmishes, be them long or short, happened. She responded to any and all calls, and this she had presumed was one of them. He backed off promptly, and the alpha female lorded over him briefly, even attempting to mimic his own gesture in putting herself upon him. But as he proved his tolerance for what he had pulled, her aggression eventually abated into nothingness. The woman shook out her furs as he remained submissive, ears pulling back as she listened.

It would appear at the present time she was too irritable to have read the situation any different than she had. Testy, especially so in the throes of pregnancy, the woman would tolerate very little from any. Kapvik tried his hand with each of his leaders and was now learning what would warrant responses and what was barely tolerable. Echelon often tried the same things but never with her, and less and less with the Spine's Beta and Alpha Male. The wolverine was as spirited as her which she was used to, but still had always found obnoxious. In a roundabout way, the quality endeared her to him as it had with Echelon. Tonravik could understand why he did what he did now to find his place... but before long, he would know for certain where it was. While things quite frequently changed and shifted within packs as seasons would often push, the alpha female was presently unreceptive and quite pregnant, and protective already of what she carried. It was not trust she thought of, oddly enough, but simply herself.

Tonravik thought truly nothing of what had just happened as she considered the matter settled and the conclusion understood. So she reached out to offer him a companionable nip, gesturing in the direction he had come. She chuffed and cocked her head, lead me to where you found that creature, the movement implied. And so they did.
